Can't run TVPaint 10 on My Mac! :(
I've been working on TVP 10 Windows for the last 3 months in our studio. Now I have finally decided to download a demo for my Mac to see how it works. Well - it doesn't!
When I open TVPaint, I can work, but as soon as I do anything with the program window (i.e. move TVP to my Cintiq screen, or just click the green button to go full-screen), all the interface just disappears and nothing works anymore and if I click somewhere, the interface just goes nuts. OpenGL is disabled and if I try to enable it, TVP crashes immediately.
I am on Snow Leopard OSX 10.6.8, TVP 10.0.18, 64 bit
curiously - after this, I tried to download the 32 bit version, but the DMG file doesn't open at all! :/
eeerrrggghhhhhh ?!

I tried 3 times with different browsers... I have managed to enter the DMG file with Pacifist, and extracted TVPaint from there, but it doesn't work :/Fabrice wrote:the download was probably not done correctly.

our Mac specialists (Elodie/Thierry) are not available today, but I guess they will check soon, later at the beginning of next week.

Thanks, I hope for the good... I wonder - I didn't find any other posts about it - either most people aren't on Macs, either they don't use Tvp 10Fabrice wrote:our Mac specialists (Elodie/Thierry) are not available today, but I guess they will check soon, later at the beginning of next week.

Re: TVPaint 10 doesn't work on MAC!!! :(
Please can you try to download the lastest update ?
Put don't overwrite the 10.0.11 software in the application folder : just rename it, so if the 10.0.18 doesn't work, you will be able to switch back.

TVP 10.0.18 32bit starts perfectly on my Mac 10.6.8, I can move the program window, resize it and make it invisible without problems.
I can't test the 64bit version because the download page says it won't work with my dongle. (Is it possible to change this?)

I will check the issue. I guess you still have you old Mirage dongle, unable to work in 64bits.

Re: TVPaint 10 doesn't work on MAC!!! :(
For the record I'm on Mac and I use TVPaint (from version 8. 5 - through - current version 10.0.18 ) and it always works flawlessly on Mac. The university where I teach has TVPaint on both PC's and Macs. No problem running it on either platform.Soom wrote:Thanks, I hope for the good... I believe that your post declaring (loudly) : "TVPaint 10 doesn't work on MAC !!!" was too hastily written and is unfortunate because those words now go into the search engine database (Google's , etc. ) and will come up if people search for "TVPaint on Mac" .
I believe you that TVP is not currently working on YOUR Mac for some unknown reason, but the reason you are not finding any posts about the problem you are experiencing is that it's not a problem most other Mac users have .
Re: Can't run TVPaint 10 on My Mac! :(
D.T. Nethery - thanks for the feedback. can you tell if you are using a 64 bit version on Mac?
P.S. changed the title - I calmed down a bit : )

UPDATE: I have managed to open the 32 bit version through a Disk Utility, which means probably that I had some permissions problem. Anyway - the 32 bit version works fine - this is a good sign!
But the 64 bit version still is acting crazy...

Re: Can't run TVPaint 10 on My Mac! :(
I have both 32bit and 64bit version of TVPaint running on my Macbook. I'm on Mac OS 10.7.5 . I was just at my school this past week (I teach online , but the university also has a bricks-and-mortar campus) and they have TVPaint 10 running on Mac OS 10.8 . (also on Windows PC's)Soom wrote:can you tell if you are using a 64 bit version on Mac?

Can it be, that 64 bit version doesn't run on Snow Leopard (OSX 10.6.8 )?D.T. Nethery wrote: I have both 32bit and 64bit version of TVPaint running on my Macbook. I'm on Mac OS 10.7.5 . Re: Can't run TVPaint 10 on My Mac! :(
We don't have a Cintiq here so I can't comment on this, but when I click on the green button, the interface doesn't disappear on my iMac (TVP 10.0.18, 64 bits, OS X 10.8.3).Soom wrote:When I open TVPaint, I can work, but as soon as I do anything with the program window (i.e. move TVP to my Cintiq screen, or just click the green button to go full-screen), all the interface just disappears and nothing works anymore and if I click somewhere, the interface just goes nuts.
I assume this is a specific 10.6.8 bug, once again, oh well...
While I'm working on a fix, you should be able to overcome this bug by clicking on the borders of the windows and resizing it manually. This should force a refresh, thus making the interface reappears.
When 10.0.18 was released it was indeed buggy, but since then it has been fixed, and a fix was released soon after.Soom wrote:OpenGL is disabled and if I try to enable it, TVP crashes immediately.
Here are how to download the fix : http://forum.tvpaint.com/viewtopic.php?p=60995#p60995" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (I assume you still have the "old" version of TVP 10.0.18 and not the most recent one).
I strongly advise you to download it, it will be better for me to assist you if you have the most recent version.
I just tried to dowload a 32-bits DEMO version, the download went fine, and I could run TVPaint and use it without issues.Soom wrote:curiously - after this, I tried to download the 32 bit version, but the DMG file doesn't open at all! :/
eeerrrggghhhhhh ?!
But I see that you managed to open the 32 bits, good to know that it works. However it is very strange that you had permission issues, since Apple's intrusive protection system (the one that blocks anything that hasn't been downloaded from the Store) appeared in 10.8, and you should not have it on 10.6.8
Right now, I don't see any reason why the 64 bits version wouldn't work on 10.6.8.Soom wrote:Can it be, that 64 bit version doesn't run on Snow Leopard (OSX 10.6.8 )?
Let me know if you still have issues after downloading the latest 10.0.18 version of TVPaint
