I also experience this problem. It's hard to isolate why it happens. Sometimes it goes to the correct folder, but sometimes Tvpaint 'forgot' where it was supposed to be.

My OS version etc is in my signature:

I'm using the 64 bit version and all what I've listed in the previous page is confirmed each time.
I'll try with the 32 bit.

So, what would be the perfect behavior for you ? Always remember a folder that you could define in the preferences ?

So, what would be the perfect behavior for you ?

At least if you have saved your file in a folder, and if you then use "save as", it would be really helpful if tvpaint showed the folder where you last saved the same file. (I think now this is a os x bug)

The second request is if you use "browse" in your mac file requester, it has to show the same path as you see in the tvpaint window before you click the "browse" button.

Hmm that's weird, because it's exactly how it works with my computer.

Yes, that makes sense.

I understand, but that's really weird, because I don't have this behavior
(My TVPaint / my Mac goes to the last folder I've used or saved).

Yes, we will try, but we need to be able to reproduce the problem first.

Also a thing I don't understand:

When I export for example a tiff sequence, I use name "sequence_1".
Then I want to export a sequence from the same tvpaint project. I want to name this "name_2". Then tvpaint suggests "sequence_1". Ok, that sounds normal.

Bet then I want to export another sequence from the same tvpaint project. I want to name it "name_3". You would think that tvpaint will suggest "name_2" but instead of that it keeps suggesting "sequence_1". It would be logical if tvpaint suggested the last exported name...

Is there a reason for this behaviour?

Yes. Chaos sometimes reigns when using the TVPaint file requester dialog box (and it's worse in Windows...). I hope both options (TVP and System) have been rethought and rewritten in 10.5.

The way saving files and what names/location TVP suggests has been weird for years. It's time for it to get fixed properly.

Ok guys, we have taken good note of that. We will peek an eye about it. On your side, please explain us exactly which kind of behavior you want with TVPaint :)
