Possible to animate a sequence as single object?
Possible to animate a sequence as single object?
I have a fire sequence that I'd like to move as a torch being carried, to be multiplied as a number of people carrying torches at different distances. Any way to take a clip, resize it and move it as a single object?
Thanks
Thanks

Look up about keyframer in the manual.

Keyframer, as slowtiger says, and also look up animbrushes.

As said before me - you can use 2 ways: 1 is to use Keyframer FX on the fire layer, 2 is to use it as animbrush, and stamp each frame manually. depending on the complexity, the type of movement and the lenght of the scene you choose one that is easiest. Let us know if you have trouble in using those

Re: Possible to animate a sequence as single object?
and why not the 3rd way mixing the 2 : grab the fire-anim as animbrush and use the keyframer (with source = custombrush, loop mode), as many times as you need, with some changes on the x. y. z settings each time.Soom wrote:As said before me - you can use 2 ways: 1 is to use Keyframer FX on the fire layer, 2 is to use it as animbrush, and stamp each frame manually ..

In that case, for completeness, there's a 4th way, which is to draw each frame as a new drawing; a little more work but the result is stunning.

Re: Possible to animate a sequence as single object?
who's for a 5th way to suggest ?
here's the 6th one :
fire generated with Particule Generator_fx,
and emmitter(s) attached to autopaint path(s) ...
Re: Possible to animate a sequence as single object?
5th will complete the 4th: draw it with the Fire pen (in the tool Bin)!ZigOtto wrote:

That's exactly how I do it. I have many clips with fires burning along the cliffs of the Strait of Magellan in Tierra del Fuego ; some distant, some closer, and I find it the most satisfactory to just draw the individual fires with that Fire pen. It's actually not as tedious as it sounds and it looks stunning.Soom wrote:5th will complete the 4th: draw it with the Fire pen (in the tool Bin)!ZigOtto wrote:

Re: Possible to animate a sequence as single object?
Wow, thank you so much for all your input. I knew how to use the keyframer from doing moving backgrounds, and discovered I could have a fire sequence of any length (I used the Particle FX fire) and that could be used in the same way as a moving background source. Nice.
However, in reading your replies, I have two questions:
1. How do I create an animbrush? The Help manual for TVP Pro 9 just says, "Let's admit that you are using an animbrush..." Er, I can't confess to something I didn't do, nor know how to do.
2. The fire pen sounds intriguing--where is it found?

Fire pen is an expression invented by Soom to confuse you (but I like the name because it describes exactly what you can do with it). It's part of the Animator Panel and it's called Fire. The icon is a clear picture of a burning flame.

Re: Possible to animate a sequence as single object?
Create an animbrush like this:
- animate something over a couple of frames
- select all frames
- choose the cutbrush tool (B) and select the drawing
