Re: Update 10.5.0 issues

Post by Sewie »

I've made a video of the crash. I hope you can follow what I'm doing; just fucking around with the Freehand Selection Tool and the Cutbrush Tool, alternating the two. The crash always occurs with the Cutbrush Tool, cutting a bit out of the drawing/scibble. In the video, when the crash occurs, I'm using the Cutbrush Tool. Before the video starts I have been doing this for some time, though no longer than a few minutes.

I hope you understand that it is a bit of a hassle moving around a sixty+ pound drawing tablet. But I'm pretty sure it isn't the Cintiq as I have been using it for about a year now with previous versions of TVP without any problems.

It's not a valid selection, I am told.

Is it working now, Paul? I had problems uploading the video.
A refresh of your browser should reload it...

It is and I just posted a reply but it didn't show up. Are you using keyboard commands to do this?

No, I'm figuring it out on the fly. I've never uploaded a screencapture-video so I had to make a few mistakes.

Sorry, I wasn't clear. Are your crashes happening when you use key commands?

Yes, in the video I'm using keyboard shortcuts for the Freehand Selection Tool and the Cutbrush Tool. And I'm using the Undo keyboard shortcut a number of times as well.

I find it strange that this is happening only to you and me... so far.

It is a specific set of actions I'm doing here...
And I have a feeling that half the forum is on holiday.

Léo wrote:...You have just to create a new configuration, to see if the bug is still here, in the startup panel.
Just tried it and the crashes still occur.
A pattern I see is that TVP crashes when I use the Cutbrush Tool, right after I've used the Freehand Selection.

There's a new shortcut:
Tools: Swap Stylus tips (meaning the nibs, not tips on what to do :| )
This shortcut, when assigned to a key lets you first open draw, then tap the key and select an erase mode. Now each time you tap that single keystroke you will be toggling back and forth between draw and erase. Using this keystroke will crash my TVP.

Paul, I can reproduce your bug as well.
TVP crashes after some time, especially when I change the blend mode in the Tool Panel after I've switched the Stylus Tip with a keyboard shortcut.

That's two bugs that cause serious crashes! Makes me wonder if these updates are being properly beta tested.

Another issue:
The settings in the Preview Setting menu, where the proxy is set and which contains the new Timing Warning function, gets reset after closing TVP.
So every time after reopening TVP I have to re-enter my preferences in that menu.

Going back to the cutbrush/freehand-selection crash issue; I am starting to believe it's a problem with the Cutbrush and not so much with the Freehand Selection Tool. I just had a crash occur when using the Cutbrush Tool to cut a bit of a drawing out of a frame. (That's Cutbrush Freehand Tool + RMB)

Also; it happens OFTEN and I am really surprised no other user, beta tester or TVP-team member has walked into this bug as I can't seem to avoid it if I try!
