If it is electric, it isn't steampunk :)
Electricity was never discovered...
Oh my, this pneumatic Mac gets really noisy when I'm applying an FX stack :)

Electricity can be steampunk... it would be powered by Tesla coils and steam engines.ematecki wrote:If it is electric, it isn't steampunk

For my current project I have done extensive research on the steam engine period (2nd half of 19th century and Edison's heyday). Most people have no idea how prevalent a device that used to be, powering office machines. bicycles (the most famous brand was the Roper) but my most favorite surprise was this one:

Thats not impossible, but quite borderline... once you have electricity, you have electric light (no more gaslight), telegraphs, and soon electric motors...idragosani wrote:Electricity can be steampunk... it would be powered by Tesla coils and steam engines.ematecki wrote:If it is electric, it isn't steampunk :)

Exactly what made steam disappear as a power source.
(At least "steam" in the common sense, most electric power plants are still steam powered, coal or nuclear combustible still heats water which turns to steam and powers turbines which power the electric generators).
