Which version of TVPaint (Help > About TVPaint) ? You should have the 10.5.4.
Are you working with the 32 or 64 bit version ?

Welcome to the TVPaint forums.
Elodie and ematecki are being exceedingly polite, but what they're gently reminding you of (as first-time posters) is the Announcement at the top of this forum : "Read Me First Before Posting A Question"

When you have an issue with TVPaint Animation, please, don't forget to precise important details :
• What is your OS and its version :
- Mac OSX 10.4 (Tiger) 10.5 (Leopard), 10.6 (Snow Leopard), 10.7 (Lion), 10.8 (Mountain Lion), etc...
- Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, etc...
- Linux Ubuntu 10.04+, Debian 6+, RedHat Entreprise Linux 5+, Fedora 15+
• What is your OS architecture (32 or 64 bit)
• What is your software version (for example : Mirage 1.5, TVPaint 9.5.21, TVPaint 10.5.4, etc...)
• What is your software edition (Standard or Professional)
• For the Professional Edition of TVPaint 10 : What is the architecture (32 or 64 bit) ?
Moreover, don't forget that the more you will give us concrete examples with images or downloadable files, the faster we could answer you.
Re: default interface
If I remember it correctly, you have to go to Edit>Preferences>Startup> Starup Configuration - select Open Startup Panel. Then close and reopen TVPaint - this will let you reset configuration. Don't forget to save your keyboard shortcuts and custom panels (just in case) before you do all that.

Re: default interface
There's another way: While pressing down CTRL, open TVPaint using the icon on the task bar (Be prepared to wait a few seconds while holding down CTRL.) The start panel will then open and you can start over again using the "New" button. This doesn't mean you will loose your earlier configs, but as Soom says, always make sure you have your key command settings backed and even your interface settings if you have made any changes to those and want to hold on to them as well as any custom panels you want to keep. You should always do this as soon as you make changes in case your computer crashes.

Re: default interface
oops, sorry; overlooked that. So mac has no equivalent to opening the start panel without resetting preferences?

Hi Soom and Pual
Although pressing control doesn't work, get the start up panel form "edit" and then using the "New" button on it works nicely. Thank you very much!
