need help with particle generator

Post by furushil »

I have created a particle generator with an anim brush set to loop. Unfortunately, the particles are not looping right. One frame is randomly missing.
I would like to upload a tvpp file, the effect.bin and the anim brush. How can I do this here in the forum? It says "The extension tvpp is not allowed".
If someone could take a look at the files, I would be very thankful.

zip them together and you should be able to post the zipped file as attachement.

maybe it's a matter of frame-rate ?
try to load your animbrush as a new project, and set the particule shape /source to this new project.
(take care the main project + the particule source project are set at the same frame-rate)

edit : bug confirmed;
my source test was 9 drawings timed in 2's = 18 frames,
when the particule applied, some of the source drawings are in one's (4, 6, 9, 3, 6, ...)
so it looks like periodicaly, one frame is skipped. :o

oh no, so you mean it is a bug? I really need this right now. :?
I guess there is no need to upload my files then...

I always used 24fps and have 5 drawing in the anim brush. On some particles Nr.3 is skipped and on some Nr.5 etc.

edit: It doesn't seem to work properly with any "Shape-> Animation" setting, except for random of course :|
If anyone knows a workaround please let me know.

Try a layer as source instead of a brush?

Well, bad news that you need this to work right now, but good news is that the bug was discovered . Thankfully the trusty TVP Dev. team will probably have it fixed by the next update.

I always have mixed feeling when I discover a bug :D

When I choose "project list"-> untitled the same thing is happening. Some frames get randomly lost.

Well, I think I will animate the particles in one place and then use the key framer to move them.

Here's a button/script combo called "StepDraw" which lets you position sequential frames from an animbrush by hand, to layer frames, advancing one frame at a time. It can be used as a kind of "hand-made" particle generator.

It gives you more frame by frame placement control than the OPTION in Preferences/General - "Stroke Animator" check box which Changes the current frame during drawing when the CTRL key is held down.

StepDraw.tvpx file here with instructions for use.

(The tvpp file is just one empty layer)

With the new update (10.5.7) it looks a lot better but the bug remains, I think.

I set the frame rate to 24. Now some particles loop correctly and some hold one (random ?) drawing for two frames.
