Functionality of TVPaint with a Cintiq touch

Post by BruceM »

I am looking into purchasing TVPaint Pro, and a Cintiq tablet. Is anyone out there using a Cintiq touch with TVP, and if so, how is it working for you? Can you tell me whether it works well or would I be just as well off buying a regular Cintiq and skipping the touch version?

There is no touch functionality within TVPaint as far as I know, so if you are planning on using the Cintiq touch mostly with TVpaint it'd be a waste of money as it won't work with the pinching and flicking movements of your fingers. And I am not sure if there are any plans of adding this to TVpaint in the foreseeable future.

Actually, I own a Cintiq 22 HD touch, and pinch zoom isn't really what it's all about. (It's mind blowingly awesome in Artrage though, for editing and zooming layers!)
With TVPaint, I hope to see pinch-zoom support in both the timeline and the viewports.

But for me, having a touch screen and combined pressure sensitive screen, I love to be able to use the Wacom touch ring menu while working.
That is, I can assign different touch functions to each program I use. It's invaluable to me and saves so much time. Not to mention, gestures to minimize the program I'm working in, touching the start menu... and the list goes on. Something to think about! I didn't really think much about it, but it's subtly yet profoundly changed the way I work.

CartoonMonkey,
I've been second guessing myself on this for the very reason you bring up, which is the ease and speed of using other software programs with touch gestures. Right now, I'm thinking if I'm going to spend that much money for a Cintiq, I may as well spend a little more and get a touch version.
Thanks so much for your input on this!
