I have an animation scene with sound set up and the preview is set to loop. When I preview the scene with the sound in TVpaint, it very often (but not always) occurs that the sound is delayed during the first run of the preview. After the scene runs through and it starts from the beginning again the sound is not delayed anymore.
I can also preview, hear that the sound is delayed stop the preview and preview from the beginning again. This way also the sound would be fine (again during the second run).
As I said, this does not happen every time and I don't know what is causing it.
The bar at the bottom is always green when I preview the scene.
The sound file is WAV.
The sound starts right at the beginning of the scene and I have not modified it (just imported it).
Has anybody else experienced this?
I always have this issue when I am working with sound.

It has been a while since I posted this.
Nobody else has experienced this?
I can add that this behavior occurs when sound is involved in the project in general (not only with WAV files)

Can you try it with the same soundfile as an MP3 in a smaller filesize? So more compressed.
I remember that WAV files, for some reason, used to give me all sorts of troubles.
The behavior of that that green bar is a complete mystery to me. It's no indication at all for playback speed or quality, I have noticed. Perhaps someone of the TVP team can explain what is actually does?

OK, thanks.Sewie wrote:Can you try it with the same soundfile as an MP3 in a smaller filesize? So more compressed.
I will try to use smaller sound files next time. Let' s see if this works.
It is hard to monitor because it does not occur every time, when I hit playback.
In my experience when the bar is yellow and I hit playback, it plays choppy. But after the second or third run, the render catches up and it plays normal. It is best noticeable with large projects.Sewie wrote:The behavior of that that green bar is a complete mystery to me. It's no indication at all for playback speed or quality, I have noticed. Maybe your computer catches up fast enough that you never notice a difference.

Re: strange sound behavior
Sometimes a problem with playback can occur if the .WAV file or .MP3 file has different sampling rate than the sampling rate selected in your Preferences > Sound .furushil wrote:It has been a while since I posted this.

I can add that this behavior occurs when sound is involved in the project in general (not only with WAV files)
For example , if your sampling rate in Preferences is set to 44100 hz then make sure your .WAV or .MP3 file is also at 44100 hz . Or if your .WAV / .MP3 file is set to something else (such as 48000 hz ) then change the sampling rate in TVPaint Prefs > Sound to match .
Also, this issue for Mac -

Re: strange sound behavior
Ok, thank you, I will try this next time. I see now that the sampling rate of the audio was indeed different from the TVPaint preferences.D.T.
