brushstroke - rotate canvas - issue

Post by hellofilms »

I try to get more into the brushes of TVpaint.

I am used to photoshop and the brushed there and I think they work very well.

Now I realise this in TVpaint.
- I draw a straight line with my brush with canvas in normal position.
- If I rotate the canvas to draw another line the brush doesn´t follow. It has it´s position like it was when drawing the first line. So I cant ink the way I normally do by rotating the canvas/paper.

Is there a way to get rid of this or is it just the way it works?

I have no problem to draw lines of any angle in rotated canvas mode.

However, I think you're referring to lines drawn while holding down shift, which restricts lines to 0°, 45°, and 90°. These will continue to orient from the un-rotated project, not from your physical screen.

If you need straight lines of any orientation, try the Bezier spline Line Tool.

No, not while pressing down shift.
I will explain more clearly and get back.

I send two images.

1. I have a brush ( selfmade ) and draw from the left to the right. There is a some kind of brushline

2. I rotate the and draw from the left to the right. ( in the canvas its from the top tp the bottom ) And then the brush does not make a stroke it draws like I have not rotated the canvas and drawing from top to bottom.

If you have square or round brush this is no problem I guess but in this case.
What can be wrong or am I missing something in how it all works?

I think you need to set the Custom Brush Angle to Direction... it defaults to None. Look at some of the other custom brush-stroke brushes to see how they are set (the first number in the CAngle variable).

I first changed to Angel/ Direction and then it did not work but then I opened the Profile Editor and change that ( don´t know if it was a default or if I had been there and messed it up )
But I change it to the values in the enclosed image and now it works as I want.

thanks for the help!
