Smear Bug in the Custom Brush Tool?

Post by TheQuestionMark »

I think there's smear bug in in Custom Brush. Everytime I try to stroke I get a 'dot' of the initial color and then it smear. I tried to tweak all the setting to get rid of the initial color 'spot' 'dot'. Smear , Smear Source, Shift, Smear, Opacity, nothing seems to work. Is there a way to smear without the initial color with the custom brush tool?

what's your tvpa version + your OS ?

do you use the "smear stamp" mode of the custombrush ?

I can't reproduce your "dot of the initial color" issue here,
maybe a grab of your tool settings panel could help to investigate further.

Windows 7 TvPaint 10.5.7 (64-Bit) It's under my signature.

Yes I use the 'Smear" Stamp of the Custom Brush.
Really Here are my settings for the dot color.
Size 75% Pressure
Shift 0% None
Jitter 0% Pressure
Opacity 100% Pressure
Angle 0.00 Direction
Step 8.50%

Projection On
Drying On

this is part of your settings only, ... what's your Smear value ?
also we can't guess what are the profiles you have set for each parameter ...

anyway, have you tried with the mouse vs the stylus, to see the difference ?
have you tried with Step checked Off, and Opacity around 0 ?
or, if you don't want the color of your custombrush at all,
have you tried in Color mode, with Shift around 100% and Opacity to 0% ?

Whoops Smear is at 100% Is there a bug seems like you Smear it 'sucks in' when you stroke and not 'push out' the smear. Is that a bug?

That Shift at 100% and Opacity 0% feels more smudgey than smearing. I like smear way better.
