Custom Brush Smoothing Performance Bug?

Post by TheQuestionMark »

I think there's a bug in the Custom Brush. Why is that when using smoothing on Best it lags and my computer slow down like crazy. But if you switch on Projection and Best Smoothing it doesn't slow down. Shouldn't Smoothing Best with Projection slow down your system more? I think there's a way performance boost to Tvpaint when using Custom Brush with Smoothing Best. Can you make a copy the code in Projection but yet turn off the Projection to boost performance when using Smooth Best?

• What is your OS and its version :

    - Windows Vista, 7, 8, etc...
    - Linux Ubuntu 10.04+, Debian 6+, RedHat Entreprise Linux 5+, Fedora 15+
• What is your OS architecture (32 or 64 bit)

• What is your software version (for example : Mirage 1.5, TVPaint 9.5.21, TVPaint 10.0.11, etc...)

• What is your software edition (Standard or Professional)

• For the Professional Edition of TVPaint 10 : What is the architecture (32 or 64 bit) ?

By the way, don't forget to repeat the details above EACH time you have an issue. We cannot remind the configuration of all our users

Moreover, don't forget that the more you will give us concrete examples with images or downloadable files, the faster we could answer you.

And finally, don't forget to say "Hello", especially when you post in the forum for the first time, we are not machines ;)

Thank you :)

i cannot replicate the issue you describe.

if i switch both best AND projection tvp gets even slower.
do you still have this issue?

be aware that best is not always the right choice to get best results.
often Medium is the better choice, and tvpaint has it easier with it.
also adding a step value can help to speed up drawing response

Is there a way to export your brush to show? I'm not getting any slow down when Projection is On. Is it the size of the brush?
