Sound not loading completely on render
Hi all, I'm having a problem with the sound loading completely on a render. It works fine scrubbing in the program. It plays fine in the program. I have re-rendered the sound files (mp3) several times from scratch and reloaded them back into TVPaint. When I render my clip either to .mov or mp4 the sound always stops two to five seconds from the end of the render. I have adjusted the memory cache, rendered the clip at different lengths, tried different codexes and render qualities and clip files and still the sound stops before the clip is done. No indication from the time line of any hindrance. No idea what is happening or how to fix this. I've rendered 25 different versions systematically trying to solve this to no avail. Any thoughts? I'm running TVPaint Pro 10 on a Mac running 10.7.5.

Re: Sound not loading completely on render
How exactly do you have your project setup? Are you working from a clip in Time Line mode with your track spanning across the entire timeline, or are you going about this in another way?

Re: Sound not loading completely on render
Is your render longer than the longest layer in your timeline? I've noticed sound only plays as far as that. Just created an empty layer and extended it to the length of sound to solve that.

Re: Sound not loading completely on render
Yes I'm working from a clip in the timeline and my track spanning the entire timeline, though I am only rendering as far as I've animated. I did notice that the master sound only loads as far as the last frame so I extended it well past what I want to render. It seems that the sound is about 9/10s of the movie file. In other words, if I render a 10 second clip, sound will last 9 seconds. A five second clip has sound for about four and a half. I've tried .acc, .wav and .mp3 for the sound files. Nothing loads completely. The sound always ends before the video.

Re: Sound not loading completely on render
So extend a dummy layer past the animation layers and load the soundtrack. Then cutoff the excess. Will that work for you?

Updated software and still not working. Sound always ends early. It must be in the renderer somehow but I don't know what to look for. My sound and my settings are all set to 48khz. What the hell?

Re: Sound not loading completely on render
Extending a layer past where I want to end is a work around. But it's not predictable. I never know where the sound will end. Something is not working right. That solution means I have to bring it into another editing program to change it and then re-render. I've tried it now 32 different times with .wav .acc .aiff .mp4 .mov .mp3 and each and every time the sound ends before the clip ends. This must be in TVPaint somewhere. Don't know how to fix it. I suppose I could just render without sound, import to Premier, add the sound and re-render. But that seems like an uncomfortable process. I have a three minute film and that's going to get messy as I assemble this. This is not the first time I've rendered on TVPaint. Don't know where the bug is but never had this problem before. What am I missing?

Re: Sound not loading completely on render
I work with Vegas instead of Premiere but I'm sure the process will be the same. The way I work is To load a sound track and animate to it. I've never experienced what you describe. Another way is that I draw an animatic and load that to Vegas and cut it to the music track which I have setup for this purpose.
Once I have a rough combination of clips to sound, I highlight each clip in Vegas and render the sound this clip covers to TVP. I do this with each clip and always get the same length of sound to clip.
You aren't animating the entire three minute film as one clip, are you?

Re: Sound not loading completely on render
Hey thanks for your input I greatly appreciate not feeling alone with this aberration. Normally I do load a soundtrack and animate to it. Then output it as a .mov file. For some unknown reason this time the sound is always shorter than the clip. My work around is to just render a hundred frames past my cut, bring it into quicktime pro and trim it back. I don't think I'll do the whole three minutes on one clip even though that's sort of the feel we're going for. Especially after you ask the question! The issue I'm having appears with differing clip sizes. About what do you recommend as a maximum clip size for TVPaint to handle?
Re: Sound not loading completely on render
TVP has no problems to handle 2 or 3 whole minutes of animation, however, saving and opening such a file gets really slow, and it's really hard to navigate in 4000 frames.

That's right, so you should let the story dictate where to make cuts -- or none, not the devices.
