In the Pro version you can set up a room with only the full screen drawing area. That way you can always go to the separate room for fullscreen, so it is basically one keypress.

hehe probably. But someone new doesn't know that TVPaint development has only 5 programmers and that the handdrawn pixel animation sector is that small. He sees that he needs to spend about 1000$ for TVPaint, which was about the same price as the whole Adobe Master Collection and asks why it's so expensive for a software which still has a lack of many basic things.

I hoped to hear there is a real fullscreen button, without the need to buy the pro version, but thank you for the information furushil, It's an interesting trick.

I know. It's the same mentality that sees he can get almost any movie he wants for free on Pirate's Bay so he can't understand why anybody wants to charge for his work, because isn't it the only reason you want to make successful films; to have as many people in the world as possible to see your work, while at the same time he can't understand why he can't find anyone to give him money to make his own film?

I can understand that you're angry about that fact, that films get pirated, while we try to earn a living out it. But if you put fox on a level with someone pirating films or software, just cause he wants to know why it is that expensive you wrong him. If you don't know how small the handdrawn animation section is and that TVPaint development consists of only 7 people, it's an eligible question to ask why it is that expensive.

I really can't see it that way no matter how hard I try. I am talking about the mentality of a person in a generic way now, a person who looks at all the software available to him and picks the one he can't afford and because he could afford all the other ones except for this one, he instantly assumes it is overpriced.

Isn't this the same type of person who has become used to getting any movie, software or video game he wants for free and is upset when he comes across a movie he wants to see badly but can't find it on a pirate's forum? And when he sees the teaser of this movie he gets even more upset that he should pay for it because the teaser doesn't show a single explosion or lifelike monster like every good movie he has ever seen before?

But it doesn't end there. Now he feels the need to help these producers because apparently they don't realize that they can't ask for money without putting a single special effect in their movie and tells them "until you put some special effects into your movie that otherwise looks very good you can't expect me or anyone else to pay for it".

Sorry to de-rail this thread yet further (or is it re-railing?) -- but also, schwarzgrau, you can use the keyboard shortcuts' ability to have multiple bindings to simulate the single-tab fullscreen mode that Photoshop has.

If you go into the keyboard shortcuts, you can add multiple actions to a single keypress by holding Ctrl/Cmd (I believe?). So I have tab bound to toggle most of the interface elements. I press tab and they all pop in or out of existence at once.

Maybe I'm absolutely wrong Paul, but it sounds to me a bit like you projecting your anger about something else on fox's question (even if there are similarities).
See yourself in th position of a customer, without your knowledge of the TVPaint team and their situation. You can buy the whole CS6 Master Collection or for the same amount a software which still got it's quirks and an interface from 93.
Of course TVPaint is a great tool, if you getting used to it and none of the software in the MasterCollection can be used to do handdrawn animation (with Photoshop you can, but honestly it's a pain in the ...).
With this point of view you ask why this single software is so expensive and it has nothing to do with want something for free or not appreciating someones work.

Thank you for re/de-railing this thread neonnoodle, I tried it once, but I don't know which keys/functions that would be. Numpad 0 hides the timeline, but what key hides the rest? By the way I like your new avatar, seems like a highly sophisticated duck

Perhaps you're right, but perhaps not because he said he would buy it for 200 Euros, which to me says he considers TVP overpriced considering its inadequacies and he does this without waiting for any further explanations (remember he was actually surprised he got any replies). But in either case I'm still turned off by his grandiose statement that he will be back when all this is fixed without waiting for a response. So what was the purpose for his visit while he left his footprints behind? It doesn't seem that he wanted to accomplish anything else than insult those who might disagree so I obliged. Can we leave it at that or would you like to continue off forum, which is OK with me. I hate to become someone's bore here.

Yea, you're right, I guess we can quit this here. I think I understand your point, after your last post.

Tip: search for the word "Toggle" in the keyboard command menu and it will bring up the list you need. Almost all the interface elements have a toggle command.

That's a great solution! And far better than my tip.
I have it set up this way now and it's much easier toggling between an empty drawing screen and one with all my menu's available.
Exactly like Photoshop! 8)

Interface:Toggle Windows Display is pretty efficient assigned to a shortcut key.
Interface:Full Screen may be necessary assigned to a second shortcut key to redisplay project-windowframe (they don't really work together appended onto one shortcut key).

That was extremly useful! By the way it's CTRL even on a Mac. Just the "Inteface: Toggle Windows Display" function sven mentioned seems a bit buggy to me.
I mapped all toggle comands I need (main menu, palette etc.) to K, including "Toggle Window Display". I tried it a few times and the floating windows always get out of sync. I press K and everything disappears, K again and everything appears again, but the floating windows disseapear just a few moments later. If I press K again the floating windows appear again, while everything else dissapears.
