Annoying: Creating successive instances while I am drawing?

Post by gdesouza »

I've been using Tvpaint for over a month now; hitting the ground running in a professional situation.
Sometimes, when I have bookmarked my keys, flipping between them while I draw the inbetween, successive instances are created advancing while I am trying to draw.
I wonder if I've activated something while while holding the Ctrl Shift while flipping?
Has this happened to you?
Remedy?
Thanks.

You're close; Go to the Images tab of the main bar at the top and look at the bottom of the instances menu, .

AH. Click off "auto create instance"? Thanks. But still, that's a weird function

Sometimes it can come handy, for instance when working out straight ahead animation, rotoscoping, or working out preliminary rough poses with no timing in mind...

From your description it sounds to me more, like you accidentally use the "Stroke Animator - Change the current frame during drawing with CTRL" - it's in Preferences panel - used to create animation on the go - never used it, I guess it's good when you need to simulate handwriting or drawing in motion or something.
check this too

The "create new instance" function, which Paul mentioned, can be very useful, and that's actually how TVP worked before. It's more a personal preference, depending on what you work on.

I see we've now got individual layer control for "Auto-Create/Break", but does anyone know if there's a way to set the default to OFF like in 10.5? I rarely use these attributes, and prefer not to have to remember to uncheck them both every time I create a new layer. (Although I just solved one of my other TVP 11 problems, which is that the Transform tool was applying to all frames, not just the heads as in 10.5, and now I see what was happening because Auto Create/Break were turned on!)

Thanks!

Autobreak is now a Preferences feature that can be controlled under the Startup Tab.
Also check out "New" at the top of the Layer Stack where you can create your own favorite presets -- there also you can turn Autobreak off.

Oh! I see! The Startup Tab IN Preferences, not at the startup of the program!
THANK YOU!
