Hello all,
My name's Chris and I'm new to the forums and still pretty new to TVPaint.
I'm currently practicing with the demo and I have to say that I am in love with this program. I will definitely be buying the full version in the not-too-distant future.
I do have one question that I would like to ask.
Is there any way that two users can work on the one project file from two different computers?
Myself and a friend will be rotoscoping a short film together that we're currently filming. It will be around 7 minutes long, so we were hoping that we could work on the rotoscoping together. The ideal plan would be that one person draws every odd frame (1, 3, 5, etc.) and the other person draws every even frame (2, 4, 6, etc.).
Is there a way that we could then merge the two files together so as to compile the entire sequence?
Even if you have any other suggestions as to how a 'team' might be able to work together, be it networked, cloud based, whatever, any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers - Chris
Can simultaneous users working on one project?
Re: Can simultaneous users working on one project?
Hi Chris,
Welcome here.
There is no way to make several person work on the same clip/layer at the moment.
Maybe can you export a layer with the frame 1, 3, 5, 7, etc. and an other one with the frames 2, 4, 6, 8, etc. then once the job is done by the two persons you can merge everything.
At the moment the "Share Manager" allows some exchanges (clips, projects and custom panels) but only on the same internal network.

Hi Fabrice,
Thank you for your feedback.
That's a good idea about merging them as different layers or even in an editing program outside of TVPaint.
I'll have to try a couple of different ways and see which is most effective.

Re: Can simultaneous users working on one project?
Hello once again,
I have been playing around, but I can't seem to work out how to draw on every second frame without TVPaint automatically holding each frame for two frames.
I'm sure that it's something that I'm doing wrong, but I want to draw one frame on, one frame blank, one frame on, one frame blank, etc.
Once more, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers - Chris

Re: Can simultaneous users working on one project?
Create a new layer. Grab that vertical white bar on the right and pull. Release. Select "Add empty instances".
Now draw in every other frame.
Now draw in every other frame.

Re: Can simultaneous users working on one project?
I tried the second layer last night and it looks like it should work just fine.
Many thanks for the assistance.
