Problems with opening files after new layers were added

Post by the.schab »

i am currently using "TV Paint 10.5.5-32 bits en Feb 6 2014" since three weeks.

I have a big problem with opening some files.
Whenever i open a certain file TVPaint just opens itself without acccesing the file at all - i just shows an empty canvas and it does not even start to load the images inside the TVpaint file. Just as it would if you open TVpaint without loading a TVpaint file.
Because i have three backupfiles i can pinpoint the moment where the files suddenly became unopenable - i added some new layers (where i copied and transformed some of my existing animations that i had done in TVPaint)

The sequence is two minutes long, and i use a imported video to rotoscopy. While i could use a backupfile ( which would mean to looase 30 minutes of hard work) this problem has happened to me before - last time it happened when i imported an file with "preload" now i have just copied some existing animations and layered them, so that one person was dancing with itself.

I would really want to acces my files, because otherwise i would lose some of my work. Also i would like to add that i also cant acces my last two backupfiles either. I there a workaround ? I am currently a little bit afraid to use TVpaint anymore- i must honestly say. Because if i always have to be afraid that if i do something new my whole work could be lost....

best regards from austria.

p.s
i have a legit version but i am not able to update to a better TVPaint 10 Version.

Can you send us the files ?

First of all: Thanks for the fast reply.

Yes, I can send the files to the TVpaint Devs. Is there a email adress you can PM me ?

Also i read that other people had a similar problem with older versions, so i hope that the update could fix this "old" issue. But i dont know. I really want to know when this glitch happens and how i could circumvent it in the future. After all i have deadlines and i need to rely on a program somehow.

I can say that u have 39 Layers in the last Version i can open, and circa 44 in the versions that i can not open. The Composition is circa 3200 frames.

Regarding the update i get following message in my browser:

Update / Upgrade

An internal error [501-200] occurs, please try again.

I really dont know what could be the problem there. - the dongles are attached to the server of the university - and one dongle only works with one computer - so i dont know what could be the problem. Admin rights maybe ? I am really dont know as i dont know much about your dongle system and your update system.

I have tried to open the files you sent in TVPaint 10.5.5, 10.5.7 and 11.0.2 on several Macs, they all succeeded :

i can only open the backup. the latest version is impossible to open. well - could you delete the track with the imported video (the tvpaint file not the backup file) that i use for rotoscoping and send the file back to me ? because i really think the problem is related to the imported video.
maybe that could be an workaround ?
