sketch panel eraser size?
sketch panel eraser size?
I am using TVPaint for the first time, so I don't know anything. I'm using the RGB sketch panel. When I go to erase a line the eraser always defaults to 25 pixels. Is there a way for it to maintain its size between uses? For instance if I set the eraser to 5 pixels, then go back and do some drawing with the pen, then come back to the eraser I'd like it to still be at 5 pixels and not have reset itself to 25. Is this possible?
Currently working on the Demo version of TVP11 on a 64 bit MAC. (Trying to decide if I should buy.)

Re: sketch panel eraser size?
hi oellen, and welcome !
- first, for security, RMB-clic into the panel and "Duplicate" it, then rename it "My SKetch panel" f.i. , and close the original one (in fact, a back-up of the panel, if something turns wrong),
- then, RMB-clic into your new panel and make it "Editable",
- set your color eraser tool as you want (size, pressure connection, ...),
- RMB-clic its icon of your Sketch panel and select "Grab Current Tool with Color + Keep Icon" from the popup menu,
now, each time you will hit it again, the eraser will work with your "last saved" settings.
of course it's possible, oellen wrote: ... For instance if I set the eraser to 5 pixels, then go back and do some drawing with the pen, then come back to the eraser I'd like it to still be at 5 pixels and not have reset itself to 25. Is this possible? ...

if you want to animate seriously, buy it, you never will regret it.oellen wrote: ...

Re: sketch panel eraser size?
Actually, it didn't quite work. It keeps the size etc. But now it erases all the colors in the sketch rather than just the color it is associated with. Ideas on dealing with this?

Re: sketch panel eraser size?
1 )Delete the panel (right click > this panel > delete).
2) Close TVPaint and re-open it.
3) Sketch panel is back with original config
4) Configure the eraser you want
5) Make Sketch Panel Editable
6) Make a right click on the eraser you want to modify
7) Click on "Tool : Airbrush" and choose "Grab current tool" in the list
8 ) "ok"
9) You have a new earser configuration, but it kept the script commands allowing you to erase only red, green, blue or black.
Zig proposition works as well, but it deletes script commands

Re: sketch panel eraser size?
I am still having the same problem. Is it because I want to use the eraser brush rather than the airbrush eraser? I don't want the softness of the airbrush eraser when I erase from the sketch panel. However, maybe that is my only option, because when I put in the eraser brush as a replacement it erases all the colors.

once your modification done, I forgot one step in my process,
RMB-clic on the magic eraser icon, > Edit,
LMB-Click on "Tool : Airbrush " (command line 0), and select "Grab Current Tool",
that way, the tv_custommode command line remains active within your modified tool .

Re: sketch panel eraser size?
Just for completeness in answers; Using the Profile graph, you can turn the airbrush into an entirely flat eraser -- or any other drawing or painting tool for that matter. Or giving the profile a straight line instead of a curve you can turn the soft eraser into a hard eraser.I don't want the softness of the airbrush eraser when I erase from the sketch panel.

Or he can also use any tool and change the drawing mode into "earser" instead of "color".
