Several problems

Post by inkamon »

Hey guys,
Happy new Year! first of all

I'm gonna start by describing my configuration: OSX 10.11.2(El Capitan) - 64 bit (newly updated - maybe a mistake...)
I recently switched from TVPaint 9.5 Pro to 11 Pro (installed the 64 bit version) - also made the last update available

Now what bothers me is the following:
- the programs acts like it would crash every time I close it - I get that notification that it ''quit unexpectedly''
- I get a temporary file for every save (even though I desabled the autosave)
- the project file appears as created at the moment of closing the program - so a file I started to work on a month ago appears now to be created last evening at 7PM
- the program does not remember my configuration, although in the Startup settings the ''Remember last used configuration'' is on ( so that means I have to load my keyboard map every time, i have to manually set the Lighttable again and again, the colors used are forgotten... and so on - things that were always remembered in version 9.5)
- PARTICULARLY BAD - I tried to rotoscope and there's something really weird happening with the video reference layer: at first after importing, it looks normal then after scrubing across it a couple of times the frames are all scrambled - instances seem to switch places or repeat
- oh, and the cursor - I am used to work with a circle shape - it doesn't do circle, i get arrow. Then I opted for cross but it goes back to arrow every time I save

Please help - I understood how awesome this new version is and how many new cool features it has, and I am very thankful, also for the student discount, but right now I need to be able to just draw
Thankyou

happy new year.

Most of the problems you mention have been fixed.
Are you sure you use the version 11.0.2 of the software ?
You can use the help menu to do so.
Also try to reset your configuration through the startup menu (you can activate it in the preferences panel).
Old Wacom drivers can create problems too.

Regarding El Capitan, it's strongly advised to reinstall completely the operating system from scratch, rather that updating from an older operating system.
It has fixed almost all problems ( TVPaint but not only : various lags, bugs in other software ... ) on two of our computers in the tvpaint office.

Hey Fabrice

Thank you.
Yes , I am using the 11.0.2 and I had to install a new wacom driver because of the new OS
and I actually DON'T want the configuration reseted , I would like to have it kept at least on the same file

... so all that's left is for me to install the OS from scratch? I don't even know how to do that :/
oh well...

If you are using TVPaint Animation 11 Professionnal, you can create a new configuration in the startup panel without erasing the old one. :)
Sometimes one can have problems because of a corrupted/obsolete custom panel imported within the software. It's precisely what I want to check with a new fresh config.

Regarding Mac OS, our specialist will be in the office tomorrow and will probably help you through the forum (or you can choose to call the office, it works too).

When I upgraded to El Capitan, I had many terrible bugs and lags (but not only with TVPaint) : I finally restored the whole system and now it works perfectly. I know how annoying it is, but it's just an advice to keep in mind if you notice other undesirable behaviours.

Hmm, those are the symptoms of a corrupted config : for a reason or another, your TVPaint cannot close properly, so it cannot remember the last used config and won't save properly your files, which can be very hazardous ! I strongly advise you to create a new config and see if it helps.

Have you imported MP4 files ?
If so, it's normal : it will should be fixed in next update.

Should be fixed in next update too. :)

Thank you Elodie and Fabrice again

Yes, I discovered other problems, like I cannot export - the saving stops at half or so... :(
I must see if it works if I format and install the new OS, but that's a drag.
Luckily the school is open again and I can work there. and maybe a teacher can show me the thing with the config.
If not I'm gonna come back to you guys

Cheers

Hi, Wayne (ol' Baer Animation buddy ol' pal ... good to see you here).

Rotate the workspace in TVPaint is this little button at the bottom edge of the project window that looks like an animation disc ; zoom is right next to it (the slider arrows next to percentage and also the little - and + buttons ). Click and drag on the animation disc button to rotate.

OR you can use keyboard shortcuts to Rotate and Zoom : Rotate Counter Clockwise = Shift Page Up , Rotate Clockwise = Shift Page Down , Reset Rotation to center = Shift Home . Zoom keyboard shortcuts : Zoom out = < , Zoom in = > . These keyboard shortcuts can be programmed to the Express Keys or Touchstrip on your Cintiq . I don't have a Cintiq 24" HD , but I have the Cintiq 21" and I think the set up of the Express Keys and Touchstrip is similar to this : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8yktk05Gr8I" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

See here in the User Manual : http://www.tvpaint.com/doc/tvp11/index. ... e-rotation" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

http://www.tvpaint.com/doc/tvp11/index. ... tails-zoom" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Change the interface colors is in Preferences. Go to Edit menu > Preferences > Interface > Color Scheme . Default color schemes are "Orage" (DARK) and "Acier" (LIGHT) . Custom Color schemes can be created. See here: http://www.tvpaint.com/doc/tvp11/index. ... -interface" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Some users have uploaded their custom color schemes : viewtopic.php?f=11&t=1313" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Heres a question thats kinda embarrassing. Is there a moving tool? Meaning a tool that I can use to move a drawing (image) around in the image window, instead of scrolling? Something like PhotoShop has. If not, no big deal.

Thanks,

Wayne

I'm not sure if I understand your question, so sorry if my answer is confusing for you.

1. There is a tool where you can pan the workspace: keep ALT pressed and drag the workspace

2. If you want to move an object inside the workspace (which I assume) you need to select the panning tool.
You can find it here (marked red) in the main panel

Eventually the icon looks different, cause the transform-tool is selected, then you need to hold the click and you will see the panning tool.

Here you can find more informations about it

Hello and welcome here !

ALT + Left mouse click = pan the workspace
ALT + Right mouse click + move from Left to Right = zoom in
ALT + Right mouse click + move from Right to Left = zoom out
ALT + CTRL + move to Right or Left = rotate the workspace clockwise or counter clockwise.
