Re: EMBEDDING SOUND

Actually, its not that simple after all - I still have a problem. I have embedded the sound and the custom panels into my project but if I then move the location of the original sound I'm using - then when I open the project it tells me it can't locate the sound.

I am creating projects I want to send to other people to work from. Do I have to send a folder with all the dependancies in or is there a way of making the project fully imbedded and not needed to be linked to any related files?

Thanks again

Have you saved the file after embedding? It should work then...

But if you don't manage, you can put all the files you need in the same folder, including the TVP file. Load the dependencies in and save.
Then zip it! (the software, I mean) and mail away.

Also, you can see if the sound is embedded if you check the file size of the embedded project with the non-embedded one. Off course you'll then have to save two versions for comparison.

The TVP file with the sound embedded should (logically) be larger.

Hi Sewie

No I've double checked and saving doesn't help, still looks for dependancies if I move the original sound. I'm also loosing the custom panels now even tho I embed them on the right click menu at the top of the custom panel! My embedding doesn't seem to be making anything stick!!

Might you also know why new custom panels don't show up in the menu when I open old projects? Is there a way of making sure custom panels don't disappear from the definitive list in the menu?

 I think I will go and have a cup of tea and come back to it with fresh eyes!

PS yes I can just put everything in folders but just thought I wouldn't have to if everything was embedded.

That is strange because I just tested the "embed dependencies in the project" option and it works here. The TVP file with sound embedded is slightly larger and it doesn't look for the sound file when I move it to a different folder.

Regarding the custom panels; in the Preferences Panel, under the Startup tab, next top Startup configuration does the pulldown say "Remember last used configuration"?

Might this be a mac thing if it's not a bug? Could a TVP+Mac user perhaps look at this because me no understand...

Yes nothing is making sense. I checked the configuration and it is set to 'Remember last used Configuration'. I think I'll try and restart the computer and start all over again. I have new fresh eyes now so maybe that will help. Thx for your help Sewie

Well still very strange. The projects with embedded sound are bigger - sometimes open without looking for dependancies sometimes not - depending on the project I had open before - even if I quit the programme.

When it won't open and it asks me to look for an alternative path, I tap ok and then another window pops up - I don't have to select anything because when I press cancel my project finishes uploading and the sound it there. Der I no understand sob sob

Are there perhaps other dependencies in the file? Like reference images from the library that you've placed in the project window.
But it sounds like your files should be okay to send then if the soundtrack is there....?

There is maybe something to check on our side : people from Lupus Film had dependencies issues too, so we should probably run a few tests to make sure evrything is working fine.

I was working on a Mac yesterday and I had the same issues with a sound file. So it's not you Jo.
Today on PC with the same file and no problems embedding sound. Looks like an issue between Mac and TVP to me.

Well, when I import a sound and go to "project > Dependencies > embedded in project", I don't have such an issue =/
