Problem exporting a LARGE .AVI or .MOV file
I have a TVPaint project sized at 7000 x 6363 (for a very long zoom-out ) .
When I try to export it to .AVI or .MOV it won't export .
With .MOV (FFMpeg) I get all black frames .
With .AVI (Motion JPEG , 75% compression quality) I get distorted images of random "noise" as shown :

I will run a few tests. Just in case I wouldn't be able to reproduce the issue, would you be authorized to share the file with me ?

I can send you the file if you can't reproduce the issue on your end.Elodie wrote:I will run a few tests. Just in case I wouldn't be able to reproduce the issue, would you be authorized to share the file with me ?

P.S.
The original project size is 7000 x 6363 , three layers, 229 frames . When I reduced the output size from 7K to 4K I was able to export a .mov file . 2K also worked fine. Tried it at 5K ,but the problem reoccured . So it seems to be an issue of trying to export a mov or avi file over 4K .
The reason the original art is 7K in this case is because the camera starts in very tight , pulls out , pans up , so the concern was to keep the image looking sharp over the entire range of the zoom-out .

No issues on my side, with a 7k project (but with a simple layer).

You can also use another projet at your final resolution and you create your pan with the keyframer, refering to your first large project. I found during the making of my Annecy film that working with really large BGs is really hard in TVP.
You can also export your png sequence, go to after effect and use Duik to import you TVP camera keys.

Or we can have a look to that and fix a possible bug

Haha, of course. Hope every suggestion to avoid actual problems are temporary solutions, can't wait to see what the TVPaint team is preparingElodie wrote:Or we can have a look to that and fix a possible bug

Sure, I was kidding you ^^
Re: Problem exporting a LARGE .AVI or .MOV file
I created a project with your dimensions and tried to export to QT, but it took too long so I aborted (1 hour for about 2 seconds).
But why don't you do the camera zoom and pan with the keyframer? I tried and this is much faster anyway.

It is faster and that's what I would ordinarily do. In this case I'm working with a client who has an editor who would like to try several variations on the camera shake and the speed of the camera zoom-out , so on his end he is working with AfterEffects , not TVPaint . He needs an oversized .mov file to work with in AfterEffects.slowtiger wrote:I created a project with your dimensions and tried to export to QT, but it took too long so I aborted (1 hour for about 2 seconds).

Re: Problem exporting a LARGE .AVI or .MOV file
Makes sense, I'd do the same.
Have you tried to crop the project to multiples of 32px? I vaguely remember this being important, lots of years ago. It's just a shot in the dark, tho, I never had this problem with large files of whatever odd dimensions.

Re: Problem exporting a LARGE .AVI or .MOV file
I didn't experienced any issues with AVI and Mov compressed... I'll run deeper test tomorrow.

Re: Problem exporting a LARGE .AVI or .MOV file
I'll try that . The BG image I was given was originally a Photoshop file at those odd dimensions of 7000 x 6363, so that's what the TVPaint project file size was when I imported it to TVPaint ... I'll try modifying it so it is in the nearest multiple of 32px as you suggest.slowtiger wrote:Makes sense, I'd do the same.

Re: Problem exporting a LARGE .AVI or .MOV file
Hello David : I've made deeper tests and everything work fine on my side.
Mov, Avi, compressed, uncompress, with our without camera : no issue (only a small one with AVI : when I play the file with VLC, it's a little laggy, but I don't whether the issue is from the file itself or VLC that cannot manage heavy files).
