Losing Cintiq touch ring settings when I close TVP
Losing Cintiq touch ring settings when I close TVP
I don't know if this is an issue with TVP or CIntiq, but each time I close TVPaint, and re-open it, I've lost the settings for the touch rings on my Cintiq. Is this happening to anyone else. What am I doing wrong?

There a different things to check.
First, do you lose your TVPaint config : for istance, if you move a panel in the middle of the interface an then close TVPaint. When you re-open it, is the panel still in the middle ?
If so, then you must check your Wacom config and se if the issue could come from Wacom.

Hi Elodie,
I'm still working on this issue. Sorry to be dense, but can you clarify what you mean when you say to "move a panel in the middle of the interface"? What is it that I should move to see if it's still there when I reopen?
Thanks!

A panel. Any panel - like the light table settings.

Re: Losing Cintiq touch ring settings when I close TVP
I've tried moving the light table window to the middle of the project window and then quitting TVP, and when I reopen TVP, the light table window isn't there.
Does this indicate that the issue is with TVP?

Yes, it means you lose the config when you restart tvpaint, just like Bop.
Are you using Windows as well ? If so, which OS ?

Re: Losing Cintiq touch ring settings when I close TVP
I'm using Mac OS 10.11.4, TVP version 11.0.3, and a Cintiq 24 HDT. I noticed in the "Bop" thread that you that you asked if he's getting an error notice upon shutdown of TVP. I get that error message each and every time I shut down.
What does that mean?

Re: Losing Cintiq touch ring settings when I close TVP
Ok, so your case is different : as TVPaint crashes when you turn it off, config cannot be saved and that's why you lose Cintiq config.
Another user on Mac OS told me she had the same issue.
It happened sometimes to me too, but only after a very long use of TVPaint, using tons of different projects.
---
Would you mind to reset your config and see if you still experience the crash when you quit ?

Elodie,
When you say to try resetting my configuration, is there anything in particular I should do? I've reprogrammed my Cintiq settings 5 or 6 times now, but TVP gives me the crash notice each time that I shut it down.

Sorry, I meant your TVPaint config, not your tablet
But heh ! You just made me think about something : what are your Wacom drivers version

Re: Losing Cintiq touch ring settings when I close TVP
Yes, I've reconfigured the TVP settings as well. When I lose the programming it also gets lost from the TVP configuration. I only seem to be losing my settings for the touch rings though. The express keys retain their settings.
My current Wacom driver is labeled "6.3.16-10dmg".

Re: Losing Cintiq touch ring settings when I close TVP
Could you uninstall them (always uninstall Wacom drivers before using new ones) and use version 6.3.15 instead.
http://www.wacom.eu/index4.asp?pid=29&lang=fr" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
(when I installed version 6.3.16, I had several weird issue : for instance, the Alt key was triggered each time I was using it)
---
It wouldn't be the first time that Wacom drivers make TVPaint crashes. (Usually, it's when you launch the software).

Re: Losing Cintiq touch ring settings when I close TVP
If despite the "downdate" you were still experiencing crashes, then let's try to reset your TVPaint config :
Go to the Finder and click on "Go to" menu. Hold "Alt" key to display the library and delete "tvp animation 11" folder.
Then start TVPaint, draw, close without saving : do you still have a crash ?
