Detachable Dialogs In Linux

Post by hongmao »

Hi,
I have two monitors, where one of them is a Cintiq 13HD. It's easier to draw directly onto the Cintiq, but harder to see details, due to the size limit. So I'm wanting to have a TVPaint drawing panel on both monitors, without mirroring the entire display. However, all the panels seem stuck to the main window, and can't be moved outside of it is there any way to change this?

Hello and welcome,

http://forum.tvpaint.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=6167" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
When you have an issue with TVPaint Animation, please, don't forget to precise important details :

• What is your OS and its version :
- Mac OSX 10.7 (Lion), 10.8 (Mountain Lion), 10.9 (Mavericks), 10.10 (Yosemite)...
- Windows Vista, 7, 8, etc...
- Linux Ubuntu 10.04+, Debian 6+, RedHat Entreprise Linux 5+, Fedora 15+

• What is your OS architecture (32 or 64 bit)

• What is your software version (for example : Mirage 1.5, TVPaint 9.5.21, TVPaint 10.0.11, etc...)

• What is your software edition (Standard or Professional)

• For the Professional Edition : What is the architecture (32 or 64 bit) ?

By the way, don't forget to repeat the details above EACH time you have an issue. We cannot remind the configuration of all our users
(to save time, you can write the information above in your sign)

Moreover, don't forget that the more you will give us concrete examples with images or downloadable files, the faster we could answer you.

• What is your OS and its version:
Linux Fedora 24 Cinnamon (was KDE/Plasma)
• What is your OS architecture:
64bit
• What is your software version:
TVPaint 11 Educational
• What is your software edition:
Professional
• For the Professional Edition:
What is the architecture 64bit

As you can see, Here is TVPaint running maximized on a monitor sitting below another monitor. I'd like the drawing canvas window to be on one monitor, and the rest of the UI on another, but the dialog does not fully detach and can in fact become unmovable if I try to move it past the application's window frame...

And yes, my desktop background is #777777, or 50% grey, just to remind me of the difference in color temperature each monitor has...

Oh ok ! Thanks for the details :)

TVPaint does not have floating windows. The only way to move panels, is to extend TVPaint 's interface on both screens. Then, you can inactive drawers and unpin panels like the drawing panel.
