Glitches in TVPaint on a Mac with Wacom Cintiq13HD

Post by Kuba_ToLubie »

Hi

I'm using an iMac mid2011 with a Wacom 13HD and a version of TVPaint 11.0.3. The OS is now Mac Sierra, but my issue happened also on El Capitan.
While using the program, I get these strange grey boxes of different sizes over my mouse, especially on Cintiq. These boxes cover my work window as well as toolbars. I managed to catch them on a video. They are fairly small there, but usually they appear much bigger. Here's a link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B1AbAl ... sp=sharing" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I doesn't prevent me from using the program, but sometimes it becomes very annoying. No idea what may be causing it whatsoever.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Kuba !

I also have this trouble too on my Mac, but only on the second session, not on the main one. It happens only when I haven't rebooted the Mac for a long time.

What if You restart your Mac ?

You can also try to de go to Applications fonder > TVPaint animation 11. Make a right click on the icon > get info > and check "open in low resolution" (for retina screens only)

Hi

Thanks for the quick response. It does get better when I restart the Mac, although it doesn't make the glitches go away, just makes them smaller, and so it doesn't solve the problem. I don't have a retina so the second solution won't apply either :///

We are missing a few elements to help correctly, such as the software architecture : 32 bits or 64 bits, CPU, RAM, etc.
Please make sure to answer to all of those questions so we can help better : http://forum.tvpaint.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=6167" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I know this user Fabrice : he has a Standard 11 (32 bit though) and he already gave the details of his Mac.

Jakub, I'll go deeper in this trouble. Could you also tell me whether your Wacom drivers are up to date ?

The driver is 6.3.17-5 so it's up to date. And it happened with earlier drivers too.
Thanks a lot!

BTW, my bad, I realize that I mixed you with another Jakub who just bought a Standard Edition. You actually have a Pro edition :oops:

The glitch bug is confirmed : it's in our to do list now :)

Jakub, do you actually use 2 (or more sessions) ? Or do you experience this trouble with the main session too ?

(by session I mean Mac accounts)

That'r right. I'm on a Professional version.

I logged in to the root user account on my Mac, played around in the program for a few minutes and the issue did not appear at all. Then I logged back to my normal account and it showed up immediately. So it's probably something connected to the user preferences, data or disk permissions I guess. I also tried moving around my project file, copying it to a different folder or drive, but that didn't change anything.

Actually, the problem is much deeper, you won't be able to modify it by yourself, for the modification must be done in TVPaint core.

However, I'd advise you to use the main account. Something else we noticed : if you prefer to stay on your normal account and you play a little around between TVPaint and the Finder, the glitch finally disappears after a few minutes and won't come back.

The origin of the problem is found and fixed. :D

However, since we are working on deeper changes in TVPaint Animation 11, you will have to be a little patient (a few months). :cry:

Thank you for your patience !

Thanks for that tip . That's useful information to know , but very odd that switching between TVPaint and Finder would fix the glitch and then it doesn't come back.
What exactly does one have to do to "play a little around between TVPaint and the Finder" ? Is it just switching back and forth from Finder to TVPaint a few times , then it goes away ? I haven't had this issue come up for me , but I can be almost certain I'll hear about it from students.

If you only have 1 account, you won't experience this issue.

Eer... yes. I know, it's akward, but that's how it works...

Anyway, the issue is fixed : just a little patience and the new release will deliver people from grey glitches (and many other things too :D ).
