Hi,
I bought TVPaint in December and am very happy with it. For a month it worked great, but now it's acting strangely and I'm having trouble fixing it.
The tools switch around on their own. For example, I'll select the pen tool, but when I use it, TVpaint will switch to the eraser tool. The colors switch around as well. I've uploaded a video so you can see what I mean.
There seems to be a pattern. It only switches to tools and colors that I have selected recently (maybe three selections earlier).
I've uninstalled and reinstalled TVPaint, hoping it would return to it's previous performance, but the problem is still there.
What could be causing this?
Here's what I'm using:
DELL 17" Touch Screen laptop
TVPaint 11.0.0 Standard
Windows 10
64 bit operating system, x64-based processor, 64 GB RAM
Thanks!

Re: Tools switching themselves
Hi,
Best,
We've just released TVPaint 11.0.6 today, can you try to download it and see if you still have the issue ?TVPaint 11.0.0 Standard
Best,
Re: Tools switching themselves
Thank you for the suggestion. I now have the latest version on my computer, but it hasn't solved the problem.
I thought it might be a virus or something similar. So I got Webroot protection, which says the laptop is fine.
I've noticed that the touchpad doesn't share the random switching problem. It's only when I use the touch screen. It's tempting to think TVPaint doesn't work well with DELL laptop touch screens, but the demo version worked great with the touch screen and the standard version worked great for over a month.
The only thing that's changed is that I downloaded some free video editing software recently (HitFilm 4, Handbrake, and Blender [which I didn't like and removed]).
Is it possible that installing one of these files altered a setting on my machine that TVPaint doesn't like? I'd rather not take the laptop back to it's factory settings and start again, but I'm not sure what else to try.

Re: Tools switching themselves
quite strange, but I don't think it's a virus.
have you edited the shortcuts of the software ? what if you reset them ?
what if you reset your TVPaint configuration when it starts ? (EDIT > Preferences > Startup > Open startup panel , be careful you might erase all your custom panels)

Re: Tools switching themselves
Do you have a Wacom tablet ? maybe your hand passes on the express keys and triggers different tools ?
Re: Tools switching themselves
Thank you for the suggestions! I've reset the TVPaint configuration. It hasn't ended the random switching, but I'm glad to know there's a way to reset everything.
I've plugged my Wacom tablet from my desktop computer into the laptop and that works great! I didn't have the varying line thickness function when using the touchscreen or the touchpad.
The impression I'm getting is that the TVPaint/DELL touchscreen laptop combination prefers tools that have a direct connection to the machine. The switching problem only occurs when selecting tools by actually touching the screen.
As for selecting tools or changing settings accidentally, TVPaint switches tools no matter where I place the menu on the screen.
If I had a stylus that could be used on the screen that connects to the machine, I think that would solve it. However, right now I'm happy just using the Wacom tablet since different pressure is affecting the line weight. So cool! Thanks!

Re: Tools switching themselves
It seems to me like a Dell problem. Did you try to go into their native pen/touchscreen configuration? Maybe there are functions that trigger this weird behavior?
From my experience, TVPaint works best with Wacom, most other systems have all kinds of issues...
