Thanks guys -- I'm currently in the process of making a standalone EXE that works with generic gamepads so it can be used with RocknRoll and TVPaint... I'll record a video demo when it's ready!

narf... if only I had a macintosh to develop plugins and other doodads for!

The game controller EXE works with pretty much any USB gamepad or joystick. In my case, I've tested it with a Logitech USB Rumblepad and an MP-8888 SuperJoyBox3 adaptor with a Sony Playstation 2 Dualshock controller.

It should work with pretty much any game controller that will show up in the Windows game controller control panel.

I think this is a great exercise to do in the morning...

Try to animate a box travelling through space... Try to keep its proportions, and make the box's edges flow parallel to the path of the animation.

Make sure your keys are spot on, otherwise the errors will be magnified in the inbetweens!

It's a LOT harder than it looks!!! This is a very imperfect example...

Man! I'm halfway trapped between programming and animating and drawing fundamentals and developing a style!

Okay...

The magic eraser has been outdated and replaced with a funky FX-PAINT function!

Basically, when you turn on FX-PAINT, you can use the airbrush, penbrush, mechanical pencil, standard pencil, wetbrush or text tool to paint the FX-stack's effect onto the canvas!

It works by running the FX stack and then storing the result into the Spare buffer, then setting the brush to Merge. You can probably create your own toolbox button to do this, but PPalette goes one step further:

You can turn on a setting to update the Spare snapshot with each brushstroke so that each brushstroke has a cumulative effect. Also planned is a PreFX and PostFX stroke that let you draw regular brushstrokes, and then have the FX stack automatically apply the effect on the stroke before or after the stroke.

I'm finally back from Europe (and a month-long stint of cgvfx work)... It looks like this week I'll be roped back into it for a little while, so here's a fairly quick drapery study...

These are some traditional drawings I did on the trip using just a fountain pen (or a pencil)
