It's a love-hate relationship.

I love cintiqs for what they're supposed to do, but hate them for the amount of trouble I went through to make them do it.

I hear you on the "love-hate" thing, Mark, but would you every go back to an Intous tablet or stay with the Cintiq ?

"Bonjour" everybody !
I've got a question… I'm (almost) up to buy a "wacom 4" and I wou'd be very interrested in getting feed backs from 'happy users"…
… this message is most concerning the one's who voted for that tablet (of course) :

- "Are they former "intuos3" users ?
- Any differences ?… big?… small? … almost none ?
- Worth it ?…

… etc…
merci beaucoup !

Bruno
(off topic… as usual… and therefore happy to see that a "off topic" section does exist :D … good to feel home  )

Hello Bruno,
We have had a discussion like that about the Intuos4 when it was just released.

I use a Cintiq 21X.

I tried using an Intuous and found it hard to make precise drawings while looking at the monitor.

The surface of the Cintiq is slippery. Although I could get more precise drawings with the Cintiq than with the Intuous, I was not completely happy with my drawings made on the Cintiq> But I could live with them.

I recently put a piece of mylar plastic on the surface of the Cintiq. This decreases the slippery surface. I have even better control than before. My drawings are better than ever.

The Cintiq is worth every penny.

And there's a new Cintiq out now. Following the Intuos4 standard.

I see that all the cintiqs still use that crayon-shaped, dull and fat ending of its pen that bothered me so much because of the way it obstructs the view of the tip when drawing in many cases. Doesn't this bother anyone else?

And then I noticed a real generous offer: Free Software! Do you hear that TVPaint? Why can't you do the same?!

Wow, a new Cintiq. I hope they removed the corner problem and scratch sensibility of the surface.
It will cost about 1999,- Dollars in the USA and maybe 2800,- Euros in Europe
(So far as I recall these differences in pricing with the first Cintiqs.)

But now I know why they sell the older one for 1550,- Euros at the moment.
TVPaint 10.5.7 - Win10/64
TVPaint 11.0.8 - Win10/64
TVPaint 11.0.8 - Win10/64 (Wacom Companion 2)

If I had the money (read: shitloads of money), I'd buy one or two of the "old" Cintiqs, just in case.
