I currently have the Fujitsu T900 which is fantastic in everyway, but I recently saw the T901 which has an option for nvidia graphics.
The T900 is not a light sketchbook but it is an incredibly fast, solid solution, the only flaw being the IntelHD graphics.
I'm curious about the Lenovo Ideapad P1 as a light version, but it has nowhere near the horsepower to compete with the convertible tablets. Even if it uses an N trig pen, it has to be better than the various stylus's for the ipad. They're ok for impressionistic painting but not good enough for fine linework.

As an added benefit, I was able to bring its running temperature down from 54º to 42º and improve battery life by 00:45.
Thanks for the pictures.
Save power, use LEGO :)

I used a tabletPC with N-Trig stylus last year, Hervé succeeded to make the N-Trig stylus work with the pressure.
So yes, any N-Trig TabletPC should work better than an I-Pad with a non pressure sensitive stylus.
(As I said before, we purchased the Lenovo thinking it was the N-Trig technology, but finally it was not
)

No no no!
no indeed!
Maybe a joint venture, but if anything, wacom should transform a cintiq into a tablet, with Windows on it, but let's not ruin a perfectly good company by adding it to a big corp. that's when things become stale and uninteresting (adobe...)

Hello Chad,
I’m sorry to tell you that while Windows 8 is a great looking O/S and will be a well-received O/S for Tablet users, the innovation towards Pen input is minimal, Redmond has focused its resources to the Touch community……
We continue to work on our larger format platform, but have run into delays due to the lack of a large high resolution panel with wide viewing angles being readily available to the market at this moment. We’ve secured some new executive level support from our friends in Santa Clara, which could help us get Hydis off the dime and deliver the system by CES with any luck……
We’ll keep you posted as we progress, as I would like to possibly use you as a Beta tester as we get mules up and running if you’re interested.
-So I have it on good authority that at least ONE manufacturer is looking for high resolution LCD screens, as well as Wacom digitizer and Corei5/i7 cpu! Also, this company I cannot name at this time, is working on what might be the worlds largest slate true Tablet PC, for artists, technical cad designers, and architecture markets. (also medical) -A 15 inch size slate! I for one really hope they can pull it together.
C
That does sound nice, but I'm guessing it won't be for this year? So at this moment the Slate ep 121 is about the only option...
did anyone have hands on experience with it?

That would be great, except it should work with Mac & Linux, too

Wacom won't get my perfect AAA rating until it does something about the annoying software and irrational disappearance of driver whenever (well almost) Windows has to be powered off. Calling Wacom a perfectly good company is stretching reality.

I can't think of any company that is perfectly good these days.

mine does that on occasion, but rarely. Almost any program I know has such hiccups ,though.
But it's my belief that when smaller companies that do well with what they do (in this case wacom) get purchased,it's mostly to remove competion or add something to a library and don't improve on it as much as it used to, or gets convoluted with new additions without streamlining whatever is already there
adobe and autodesk come to mind
on a different note
what would anyone's choices be between a convertable like the lenovo and a slate like the asus
->lenovo has more power and can be converted, but heavier.
->asus more easy to hold, lighter (so more portable) but without keyboard
I was going for the asus, but now I'm torn again...

Just from where I am sitting I can look around and find examples of solid products: Philips, Honda, Ikea, Anderson Windows, Maggi, Carrier Air, AARP, Hunter ceiling fans, Heinz Ketchup, Dyson vacuum, SAS shoes (AAAA!!) ... Logitech... that completes a fast full circle; I've left out things I don't even know the brand name of, such as fantastic glasses and the chair I'm sitting on and don't feel like getting off of to look...
My Samsung monitors are darn good and always have been...

Thanks for mentioning the Fujitsu T901. I have looked at some reviews and tech specs on the T901 and it seems like it would be a very good tablet. I like that it has Firewire and HDMI input , along with USB ports.
QUESTION: with these tablet PC's must one use the stylus that comes with the tablet or can a Wacom stylus be used for drawing ?
If the tablet's default stylus must be used is there an option for changing out the hard plastic nib to use a Wacom felt tip fiber nib or the Wacom spring-loaded nib ? (that is, use Wacom nibs in the Fujitsu stylus)

I went in Japan last year and told them that they could simply kill any I-Pad or touch tablet by doing a such hardware (dedicated to artists).
But I don't think that the Wacom sales manager was really interested. (I might be wrong on this point, since it's not always easy to guess for a western people what an asian people do think
)
Anyway, at least, someone told them.

One must use the stylus that comes with the tablet, but :
If it's the wacom technology, you can use those pencils (penabled for TabletPC, pressure sensitive):
http://www.amazon.com/Penabled-Tablet-P ... B000085BDB" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
If it's N-Trig, I admit I don't know, maybe ask to the TabletPC reseller's catalog.
Bamboo, Intuos and Cintiq stylus won't work.

Wow ^^
Let's hope they do something with it
wacom has a lot of support from most artists (I believe?), I think in those circles they could make a killing.
well... at the least they should make the cintiq much lighter in terms of cables. If it was a bit more portable(and cheaper) that would be fine also. Maybe even wireless XD
right now the cintiq's cable does weird scary stuff if it's not exactly right placed. Colors become green and it looks terrible... Hope it doesn't get more touchy then this.

The included pen for the t900 is pretty good (includes two buttons and eraser) fits into a pen slot and tethers to the computer. It can use the felt nib, and I would assume the spring loaded, although I haven't tried it.
I went for the convertible over the slate on the basis that it gave me a more powerful allround machine that was portable, and at the time there wasn't a windows slate at a reasonable price point. It comes down to what you use the computer for, I'd seriously consider the 121 if my work was TVP based and portable, or if I had a main graphics workstation. Because I use my tablet as my studio computer, and I do a lot of compositing/3d animation the T901 wins out for me.

I'm using this one, the Cross Executive by Wacom :
maybe a bit too heavy for a hard-user, but the feeling is pretty good when drawing/sketching on a tablet-pc.
it existed in 2 versions, with cap and "capless", but not sure if still availale.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!
Well, I did enough contemplating and bought the super strong and amazing, Asus EP121 Pad, 4 days ago! Then, I did more research and discovered that, YES, the little 64 GB ssd can be updated to a 128 GB solid state drive. The EP121 is supposed to be easy to open and upgrade according to YouTube. I found a really good website in NY,NY in the USA for the best price. Here is their link for a compatible 128GB MyDigitalSSD mSATA SSD for $209 USD.
The link:
128GB MyDigitalSSD mSATA SSD
The final factor to consider was how much weight did I want to carry around. And, then, I realized that I wanted to be carefree holding a strong and magical artpad and pen that can do almost anything, weigh almost nothing and be the size of a sheet of drawing paper.
It's delivery date is tomorrow from Amazon. They have the best price and they're having a promotion right now. Final price with no tax and free shipping $1,072.99 USD.
Plus I'll be getting a $75 Amazon gift card. You know that I 'll be getting an external DVD drive and maybe an extra storage SD card.
All I can say is thank God for credit cards and reviews! I'll keep you updated about this beautiful pad. And it's back to the tutorial. I am stuck on gradients. I've done them before on Corel Painter but so different in TVPP 9.5!
PS... TVPP 10 will look so good on it!
