I will post a panel tomorrow morning. It's bit late for today. (23H in France)

The 3D look of the original brush (when hitting the "reset" button) is normal. Don't worry about it.
As said this brush is usually used in many many situations, and the 3D look desappear when using the "alpha stamp" mode.
I will post some exemples and explanations tomorrow.

My actual concern is :
Do you have the brush back to its normal "look / behavior" when you click on it in the tool-bin panel ? (just as Sandra mentionned ??)
If not, there could be a bug, and I will give you a few additionnal instructions to find it.

hI Fabrice... I tried using the brush from the original bin and the brush still does not
make the same line - its still 3d

ok, if you try this panel, you will find :
* the chinese brush as it should be.
* The same brush without any parameters set.
* 3 exemples of what you can do with this brush. (as you will see, the result can be really far from each other ...)

I just tried it Fabrice and see no improvement; I still can't get the the Chinese brush effect of a line drawing (topmost setting). It comes out as rough blobs which are hard to control.

It's very starnge. Do you have the same rendering with all buttons ?
Please post a picture if possible.

All the brushes create glob like effects but are not the same. None of them will create a line.

ok, but please can you post an image as I did ? Otherwise it's hard for me to track the bug.

I will and please note that my cut brush is completely messed up now. When I use the free hand cut the cutout drawing is almost transparent and cannot be pasted but in the thumb it appears to be whole.

I cut the tests out as a brush and saved but the entire project window shows up here.

The invisible brush turns out to be a smear brush and it's the culprit that messes up my cut brush. Anything I cut after using your brush turns into a smear brush and the only way to fix this is to quit the project and reopen.

It sounds ok to me ... I don't see any bug : those brushes appears to be exactly the same as the ones on my picture.
The last one is also working as expected.

If you want a line with the chinese brush (the first one of the panel), just reduce its size in % (in the Tool custombrush Panel). It's true that a lot of the brush of the tool-bin panel are too big.

I don't understand. but I think it's linked to this :

Anything I cut after using your brush turns into a smear brush and the only way to fix this is to quit the project and reopen

Quitting the project and reopening it has nothing to do with the brushes.
Just uncheck the keep button as shown on the attached image, or you keep your previous brush settings.
