Please Debra, send a screenshot of your complete interface. Slowtiger already told you how to proceed with : press CMD + SHIFT + 3

I posted it again as the issue was not cleared up by the new edition of tvp9 which is what I had hoped for)

Debra, what you talking about ? You are using TVPaint Animation 10, not TVPaint Aniamtion 9. =)

hi Debra, there should be "screenshot" written on a key of your keyboard.
Once you have used that key, you can use the edition > clipboard > make new layer from clipboard option in TVPaint.
Then the only thing you have to do is to export the image.
