Re: Remove "OSX styled" buttons

The thing is, there is so much more to sound than just words. It's personality and emotion.
A french accent doesn't really matter? Would sound charming, I think. :-)

I feel tempted in doing one myself for TVP, but I don't know the software enough to do it.
Here is one I did, showing a quick tip in Photoshop and with a Wacom:

To be honest, even though I am a native English speaker, I like tutorials that don't have narration, especially if the video is long... narrators tend to start rambling and it's easy to get bored and sleepy. A short, focused tutorial with on-screen indicators like arrows, circles, etc., so you can pause it and see the details of what is being done is very helpful, and you are more likely to remember stuff more if you *see* it than just hear it.

I don't even have speakers plugged in my MacPro.

A computer is here to do the tedious work (and me the fun work, at least in theory :) and not annoy me with blings/pongs/pows/etc... :)

OK, ok.. Sound seem discomforting and annoying. Still, you can turn it off.
Back to topic. You all probably love the osx styled buttons too?

I like sound on tutorials. When I worked on mac I didn't like the "OSX styled" buttons. But I don't work on mac anymore.

Of course tutorials without sound need text so turning off sound where there is no text makes no sense. I prefer tutorials with text only because I can pause wherever needed and follow through on my software at my own pace, then play the tutorial further, pause, watch and read, and follow through...

OK, my brain was too numb yesterday after being stormed for 3 hours straight, to understand :)

It isn't really dangerous to walk in front of my MacPro without noticing it's presence.
It's a different thing in front of my moving car :)

They are already laws in preparation to make electric cars MORE noisy :

I am aware of this phenomenon with electric cars, because I am featuring Edison's Electric car from 1901 in my current film. I found on YouTube a still running one in existence and all you can hear are the soft footsteps of the cameraman walking along with it. BTW this car still runs on its original battery! Maybe electric car makers could use the sounds of a Mac computer to annoy pedestrians to step aside.

I read somewhere there is some kind of "contest" in the US to choose the noise electric cars should make.
I don't know the details, but maybe you can make an entry with MacOSX noises :)

Oh no, lots of people will run on the road and will search for the Mac.
... well, after all, it would a good way to let the natural selection act.

I don't like the OSX-styled buttons too.
Maybe a whole interface redesign could be an idea, anyway. I often get some ideas, how some details could be better, while working in TVpaint.
For instance I really like what blender did with their interface. It's clean, simple and really easy to put everything everywhere, where you like it.
blender 2.49
blender 2.61

But I guess it would took a laaaaarge amount of time or money, or both to redesign TVpaint from the ground up.

Blender is not a good example at all. They improved a bit from former versions, but still are far from intuitive. At least they changed that terrible 2.62 where it wasn't even clear wether an element was a title, a button, or a window top.

You're absolutely right, blenders interface is far from intuitive. But there system allows you to show only what you need, where you need it.
Anyway it's not a good idea to compare a 2D animation software with a 3D software.
