of course, you can save (in fact "Export") your current animbrush as a file (or sequence of images) on your HD,
as you can load it (.deep animbrush or sequence of images) as custombrush, or as a new project, or a new layer of your current project, ...
so you can work on it and grab it again the new version.
or am I missing something in your question ...?

No, you get it totally. That's what I want to do, but I could not see how to export a brush... until now!!! I can see that I go to File:Export and then select the custom brush tab and save as Deep format. I was looking to export it from the panel itself, where no such option exists. Now I get it and this is what I needed. My TVP knowledge is now complete! Kidding, but I'm getting there. Every bit helps. Thanks so much for your advice.

Don't worry, TVPaint is like an online game : there is always something new to discover

the verb "to be" should be conjugated in the present and future here,
because drawing the best of TVPaint goes with a continuous (self) lifelong trainning,
big up to the developpement team for his constant effort to listen to our users community feedbacks
and to be as responsive as possible by making this piece of software more powerful from year to year ... :)
(on developpement speaking, I think there's still room for improvements and new features addition for many decades of work ...)

Hello

I am bringing back this post because I couldn't understand howto export a custom brush. I did export to dip format, but only the animated shape was saved
How do you export a brush with all the setting and connection informations ?

Thanks

Maybe someone should correct me if their is an easier way, but I can tell you how I do it:
I saved the brush in an (apart from my brush) empty custom panel, right click on this panel and choose "export as tvpx". If someone else opens the tvpx he get's asked if he like to install the custom panel with your brush in it

In after effect you have something like that is some effects, don't remember how it's called but it's like an alpha booster. Like the FX in TVPaint, but we could have it directly on the brush panel.
