Sweet.

Yes. I think most people who have never worked in traditional animation don't even think about it. Even with Toonboom Harmony which actually has a very good vertical X-Sheet I notice that many people (especially those migrating from Flash/Adobe Animate) just use the horizontal timeline in Harmony.Anim-Illustrate wrote: โ16 Apr 2022, 19:43
I know that the ,now new, industries standard is "A horizontal timeline". And you can get use to it.
And people that do not have any experience with a "traditional" X-sheet would never ask questions about this. (Most likely)
I would be happy to have that function, to be able to have a Vertical version of the Timeline that functions the same way as the current Horizontal timeline , but with the layers and frames stacked vertically.Anim-Illustrate wrote: โ16 Apr 2022, 19:43 With all due respect to programmers ,I am just thinking, when programing the timeline there has to be some line of code saying "Horizontal" and if there is, why not add also "Vertical" and still keep all the same functions?....
And I'm not totally sure that's a problem. I say that now even though for many years I was a very vocal advocate of having a usable vertical X-Sheet (like a traditional X-sheet , as found in Harmony or OpenToonz) , but I came to the conclusion it was more about how I had been used to working on vertical X-Sheets in traditional pencil on paper animation. Now that I've spent so much time working with horizontal timelines in TVPaint and also in After Effects, Flash and Harmony , I guess I got accustomed to using the horizontal timeline format , so I don't miss the vertical X-Sheet as much. On the other hand, if they added one (not like the current version in TVPaint) that is more like the X-Sheet in Harmony or OpenToonz , I would use it , so I still hope they will add an improved X-Sheet to TVPaint , but I can get along fine without it.
