wow, i've got to say i'm a bit shocked at the pricing strategy here. i bought the upgrade probably not two months ago and have had no more than 1 hour so far using the program. that's a bitter pill to have to shell out another 400 after the 600 i just plunked down to have the latest and best version of tvpaint(at the time).
i'm still using mirage for everyday work because that's what we all use there. i will not be upgrading again so soon. if it were a year or even just more than 6 or 7 months i could stomach it, but 2!


many companies make exception for people who have purchased so close to release of a new version. i believe photoshop and painter were like that. any mercy here?

actually just checked my first posting date when i bought the program, it was May 18th. which makes it just over 1 month.

Why are there so many different versions of tvpaint?
- I bought mirage two years ago and never get a chance for a major update.

Now things have changed, companie grow together...
I might be wrong, but imo the first update from mirage should be for free
or even for a much cheaper offer.

Companies didn't grow together as far as I know.
There was a long lawsuit between them.

But at the end, is this important for the costumer?
I mean, did i have to pay for that quarrel at all?

tvpaint 8 has been out for 2 years, bauhaus mirage just blocked their users from knowing anything.
It is unfortunate however that the release of version 9 is so close to the flud of mirage users. It does give
a warped impression.

I have gotten all the moaning and groaning out of my system... my 10yr old german shepherd female scurried out of the room in fright as I was stomping my feet and jumping up and down in front of my computer... whew. I am OK, I am OK now.

I'm just a big sucker... I tried out the demo, liked it a LOT and forked over the cash (or rather, Paypal did it for me).

I was won over by the docking toolboxes and some of the new things in the timeline and ... whoa... layer blending modes!

I have the demo.. not really had a chance to use it that much. My favorite is multi-track audio..
Now, when can we expect updated SDK for all of this??? hmm....

Haven't done anything with that yet... but in general I use dedicated software for audio work anyway.

You know what would be really cool is a C++ or Python or Perl programming interface... I think we brought this up before...

How did you buy it? When I tried, I ended up as though I was going to buy TVPaintPro 8 again?

My thought about the expense: This is the best tool for what I do. I would rather spend my money on good tools than anything else. More than clothes, entertainment, travel, even books. A small company needs to be supported to keep making the great tools. It's the price of a ticket to ride.

EDIT: Another thought: the reason we Americans pay so much has to do with the falling dollar. You can look to our friend Bush about that.

I'm sure that you have to pay for that quarrel, because without that quarrel you would be stuck with a program that wasn't developed anymore.
I'm a betatester and I know that TV-paint is progressing on a daily basis.
It's now the most advanced and stable animation software that I know. (a lot more stable than CTP, or Flash in anyway)
