I completely agree with the poster above. Grouping layers in colors is archaic, making it like photoshop and putting things in tidy folders (that can all be moved together and effected by the same effects) is way better than color coding layers. It get's confusing and pretty sloppy quickly.

The Color group is currently the better solution on TVPaint, because the grouping layers as Photoshop is not usable as it is in TVPaint.
Indeed, Photoshop allow you to create group on only one level, etc... But this kind of grouping layer doesn't work very well for an animation.
For example: if a character walk above a house, then pass behind the house and finally enter in the house. How do you store in a same group all your level of animation? Knowing that the group in Photoshop are on only one level.
I mean, the color grouping allow you to group all your animations which are on different levels beside to background elements.
