rename instance with double click is gone in tvp11...

hi
in TVP 10.5 I could rename an instance just by double-clicking it. in TVP 11 I can't do that anymore - is there some other fast way?

I also miss that double-click to rename function from TVP 10.5 .

In TVP 11 you can configure keyboard shortcut Layer: Rename Instance to an available key (I used Ctrl Q ) .

If I'm renaming a group of instances I use Mads Juul's Tracker Panel :

Could you tell me why it is useful to rename instances at all? Even if it doesn't sound like it, I'm really interested (sometimes it"s hard to find the right tone in english). I never understand how this feature could be used, but since you both use it and Mads wrote a script it seems to be useful.

Looks like I will have to add a shortcut - another shortcut to remember - I wonder why this feature was removed? it was so fast easy and useful!
I also use Mad's Tracker panel - it's great, but it renames instances to a current frame number, and I sometimes need it on a different name.

Renaming instances is crucial in some cases, especially when creating cycles, or repeating frames. Imagine you have a walkcycle, which you have to repeat with a different pace - i.e. once it's on 2s and next time on 3s or 4s - when you rename your instances, you immediately see which key is where. You can also apply any changes to an image with the same name.

It does seem like it was perhaps just an oversight that removed this function (?) . I hope maybe it is not difficult to restore the function from TVPaint 10.5 . I have made a feature request :

Because many people complained of this behaviour (sometimes they double click by mistake and the pop-up window was annoying).

Renaming instance is available in contextual menu when you right click in the timeline : http://www.tvpaint.com/doc/tvp11/index. ... e-instance" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
You even have more options than before, including options similar to Mads' panel.

I think your suggestion in the other topic to make it a Preference setting is a good solution, so that those who want this function can enable it in Preferences, and those who find it annoying can disable it.

Yes, the contextual menu option is good, but I would still ask that it be adjusted so it behaves like Mads' tracker panel , in that when it renames instances it respects the exposure of the instances , i.e. whether the instances are exposed ON 2's , or ON 1's , or ON 3's , 4's , etc. so that the instance numbers and the frame numbers match precisely . It's actually what we had before on paper: the number stays with the drawing no matter where it is on the timeline and in which order. So that I can easily spot the required drawing, if it's repeated anywhere else. A good example is a staggering action, when I have to inbetween an action, and then shuffle the drawings so they shake. Let's say I have 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10, inbetweened from 1-10, and then reshuffled like this: 1-3-2-5-4-8-7-10-9-10, etc.
