How do you review WIP when it's split into separate projects?

I've now made the first 22 seconds of my 5 minute film, and just as you folks warned, TVPaint is getting sluggish and it's obvious that I need to move on to a new project. So I've set up a new project with a 22-second long blank clip as a placeholder so that my soundtrack will synch up. But I like watching everything back repeatedly as I work to check the flow of the film, so I'm curious, do you use some method to stitch your projects back together for playback, either in TVPaint or some other software (I have FCPX)?

In a video editor, like anybody else.

Still using Quicktime Pro 7 here. Easy to copy and paste clips together.

If you had 22 seconds all in one project file and you simply wanted to watch it playback in TVPaint , but not put a strain on the CPU , how about try Modify Project to make a smaller size version ? (so let's say your original is 2048 x 1152 ... Modify Project to 1280 x 720 or 960 x 540 ) .

Thanks Slowtiger. Yes, indeed, I wanted to know what "anybody else" does. I'm self-taught and not in touch with other animators so these things are not always obvious to me.

TVP can only play back a certain amount of frames reliably. More than that, and it skips frames or doesn't keep the timing. (This is true to all animation software.) So to check my animation I always render to video - after all that's fairly fast.

Also in a video editor sound can be handled much better than in TVP.
