Trouble exporting from TVpaint to AfterEffects

Post by JollyMark »

Hi everyone ^^,

I'm having some trouble exporting and running the script that tvpaint creates for after effects. I see that in the video tutorial when tvpaint exports it creates a .jsx file for when you import the project into after effects (File>Scripts>Run Script File). When I export however it creates a .json file that after effects doesn't recognise when I try to run it (it's greyed out and I can't click it). I seem to be following the same settings as in the video but I am a bit new to tvpaint and using scripts so I might be doing something wrong. Also, if I try changing the file from .json to .jsx it displays the error "Unable to execute script at line 2. Expected:".

thanks.

Hi JollyMark,

There's a misconception on your part I think: TVPaint creates a JSON file (an universal data storing format), not a JSX file (which is a script file, used in After Effects).
The AfterEffects Import script (the JSX file) can be found on the archive you get when you download the software from your User Account:
jsx.PNG
jsx.PNG (16.51 KiB) Viewed 11987 times
That's the file that you should run in After Effects, not the JSON file :)

Thank you!

The tutorials didn't really mention where to get that file so that caused the confusion, it makes much more sense now :D
