Wacom Cintiq losing Express Keys with TVPaint

I'm on Mac OS High Sierra, TVPaint 11.0.9 32bit
Ever since several months, while working on TVPaint, Cintiq 22" stops responding properly to express keys. It happens mostly when the computer gets back from idle, but also sometimes in the middle of work. The express keys stop working ONLY for TVPaint, so for now I rule out Wacom or other software... The keys don't stop working completely, but just don't use the keys assigned specifically to TVPAint.
I've tried to use TVPaint 64bit instead, but it is so laggy (I will post this issue separately), that I can't really continue testing, so I go back to 32bit for now.
