Key binding H/I with Ctrl or Ctrl+shift in 11.5.0 in Windows

Hello, there

It's just question about shortcut, mentioned in the update of 11.5.0
viewtopic.php?f=10&t=9058#p122154
You should now be able to bind H and I with Ctrl/Cmd/Shift
for the window,
I think shift was able to bind with H/I even in before the v11.5.0,
and shift is working on 11.5.0 too,
but still I can not bind H/I with Ctrl, or with Shift+Ctrl.

Is there any way to use these?
or it is just still not working in 11.5.0?
  • for the binding H/I with "Ctrl"
Shortcut setting pannel is saying "System shortcut, may not work in TVPaint!" defaultly,
and I can assign the shortcut to it, but it doesn't work properly.
  • for the binding H/I with "Ctrl+Shift"
I can assign the shortcut to it, but it doesn't work properly too.

my condition is
-Windows 10 64bit
-Tvpaint pro 11.5.0.

I also couldn't understand the point of this improvement.
I would like a detailed explanation from development.

Some keyboard shortcuts can be handled by the system only, and it depends on the operating system !

On MacOS, at least Cmd+H and Cmd+I are system shortcuts :
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201236

On Windows, at least Ctrl+H is also a system shortcut.

So TVPaint cannot use some key combinations. I agree that the options should be shown but grayed.

I understand.
Ctrl + Shift + H
Ctrl + Shift + I
TVPaint has a hotkey column, but I can't execute it even if I assign it.

Thanks for your reply.

Because there was the mention about that, I tought it changed.
I mean they changed to usable..so I was just confused.

if you guys are trying to make it usable somehow,
what I'm saing is It's still same as previous in my conditon.

and I can't understand, that they are system shortcut..
I'm curious why It's regarded as system shortcut for tvpaint developement on Windows.

I tought system shortcut is like such as
"alt + tab" for "change to next window"
"win" for "start menu"
"win+S" for "search"
"win+L" for "lock the computer"
At least they have fuction in windows and therefore, have some priority.

I saw "win+I" or "win+H" have function in windows,
but I don't think "Ctrl+I" or "Ctrl+H" have it....
so I can't understand why it is not running and regared as "system shortcut".
cuz they have nothing to run in window defaultly, including "Ctrl+Shift+H" or "Ctrl+Shift+I"

I saw also shortcut menu have now "Alt" binding, even though It's unusable.
I think because Tvpaint have concept of "time" or massive pictures, so there is a lots of function to control.
so in shortcut, I'm so suffering from the lack of usable shortcut.
I know there is room for each proccess, but it will be confused when we assign other function in same shortcut.
so I think It would be nice to use them all someday.

best regard

Well then I assume that there is another bug. There is room for improvement in our testing procedures !
I'll add this to the todo list of the next release.

There was actually a malfunction, more than a bug. Anyway I think I fixed it : on my computer (Linux) at least, CTRL+H/I/M could be properly detected.
I'll test tomorrow on Windows and MacOS.

It will be in the next beta, as well as in the 11.5.1 release :)
