I wondered why some of my shortcuts recently stopped working (I use them on some kind of macro pad). I noticed that they all involve pressing CTRL and SHIFT and that I get a tool to draw straight lines when I hold both at the same time. Is there a way to deactivate this tool? I would love to keep my shortcuts as they are, since I use them on multiple computers.

Did they stop working while you used the same version of TVPaint ? if so, you probably have a misconfiguration somewhere.
This behaviour occurs on two different windows machines running 11.5. I upgraded from 11.0.8 (and already start to regret it).
I attached the keymap as cfg and txt.

The 11.5 use a different config folder than the 11.0, did you re-import your keymap into the 11.5 ? which keyboard actions don't work precisely ?

Hi schwarzgrau,
11.0.8 does this already.
11.0.0 doesn't.
I don't have any version inbetween those 2 at home to make a more precision regression.

On one computer (the regular desktop one) I installed 11.5 and then uninstalled 11.0.8. On my second computer (a mobile studio pro) I did a fresh install. The problem occurs on both of them.
A lot of my shortcuts use CTRL + SHIFT and none of them work. Instead TVPaint always switches to this line tool, while holding CTRL + SHIFT.

What do you mean with 'this'? That you can't use CTRL + SHIFT in shortcuts, since it's already used by a weird line function?

Exactly.
But only if you are in "stroke" (freehand drawing) mode.
But being in home office mode, I can't check every version to find the exact point at which it changed.

Oh for me it's not that important when it exactly changed. I just wonder WHY and if I can deactivate this behaviour in any way. I don't need this line tool and would love to just use the shortcuts I previously configured, since this are a lot of shortcuts on three different computers and on two different macro keyboards which I all would need to change.

I don't know if it can be disabled, and I don't even understand what it is supposed to do as the line always starts from the upper left corner !

Oh this means this is maybe a bug and not a feature (which I would love to disable)?

It''s odd behavior , but I've never noticed it before (I guess I don't have any shortcuts that use combination of CTRL SHIFT).

For me the line starts from wherever I have placed my cursor , then I hold down CTRL SHIFT , the line originates from that point .
It also seems to be "magnetic" because if you complete a line but are continuing to hold down CTRL SHIFT you can resume the line from the exact same point where it ended. (it snaps to the point where you stopped drawing the previous line) Even if you stop holding down CTRL SHIFT , but then you resume holding down CTRL SHIFT the start of the next line segment will snap back to the end point of the previous line.
I made a screen capture movie to show the behavior. At the start of the screen capture you can see it starts from the middle of screen because that is where my cursor was hovering before I pressed CTRL SHIFT. After I deleted the first set of lines I made I noticed that the starting point seemed to be the last place I had clicked on the screen before I resume pressing CTRL SHIFT. But if I stop drawing , then click on the canvas with the cursor making a "dot" , the next line will originate from that point when I press down on CTRL SHIFT again.
Well, as I play around with it more , it has an interesting behavior ... I definitely think it should be fixed so it does not mess up people's shortcuts that use CTRL and SHIFT in combination, but the behavior perhaps has some value (if the behavior can be activated other than by using the combination of CTRL SHIFT ).
Watch what happens when you hold down CTRL SHIFT and use it with the 3 Point Spline tool.
Thank you David. Yea, its the same behaviour for me. It may has its purpose, but I would prefer to be able to use CTRL + SHIFT for shortcuts.
I've also tried to reproduce this behaviour on my Mac running 11.0.8. While I get the line tool too, I'm still able to execute the shortcuts involving CTRL + SHIFT.

YES ! The strange magnetic line tool could be useful , but should definitely not mess with using combinations of CTRL and SHIFT for other shortcuts !
It seems that using CTRL SHIFT this way originates in version 11.0.8 but with the intention of using it with Freehand Shape/Filled Stroke.
According to the announced new feature in 11.0.8 CTRL SHIFT should only have this behavior when it is used with Freehand Filled Stroke.
But apparently it has had an unintended consequence of messing with other shortcut combinations that use CTRL and SHIFT.d

Excellent detective work David! I guess I didn't noticed it before, since this seems to be a Windows only problem and till a few weeks ago I worked mostly on my Mac.

Go back to your Mac :)
I'm on a Mac too.
OK, "from the last drawn point", as I haven't drawn anything it's the top left corner, if I drawn something it starts effectively from there.
