High Resolution on Mac

Dear Forum,
is there a way to use TV Paint on a mac in the native resolution? I found the link to the low resolution mode:

But I am not sure if this is supposed to solve my issue. When I am using TV Pain on my mac is rendered at a very low resolution and then scaled up. This is very odd. It works fine on windows with the ui scaling. Is there a way to use it in the same manner on mac?
