We have rebuild a Painter X chalk tool for tvPAINT, so I guess it's illegal to put this brush into the standard custompanel.
I think it could be made legal, if someone can redraw the original (source-)brush .

When you say that you rebuild, you mean that you take the original look of the painter tool and you imported in TVPaint to make a brush ?

Peter (Tantalus) and I made a screenshot of the painter-brush, and imported the image in TVPaint and added paper and pressure for the opacity.
I'm working with the brush right now and it feels even better than the one in Painter.
I attached the screenshot.

I have also done this before--taking stamps from Photoshop and Painter brushes (or "imagehoses") and then reconstructing them in TVPaint. With the new shifting feature, many more external brushes could work in TVPaint.
I wonder if some script-savvy TVPainter could automate the process a bit? Maybe it's better to manually tweak it.

could anyone post a step-by-step explenation for doing that process ?
what kind of tips and tricks of tweaking in mir/tvp can be done to imported snaps ?

Importing brushes for dummies (me being the biggest dummy, so it should work for everyone):
1. Select a brush in Painter or Photoshop.
2. Make a new document and zoom in untill the form of the brush is big and clearly visible
3. Place your mouse or pen above the white canvas (or whatever)
4.make a screenshot (when you are still in Painter or Photoshop)
5. Open a document in tvpaint and than: Edit - clipboard - get brush from clipboard
6. place the brush by clicking on the canvas in tvpaint
7. Turn the white into transparent by: Effects - color - scan cleaner
8. fill the brushform with black using the paintbucket.
8. Use the cut brush tool to pick the shape up as a custombrush.
9. Play around with the settings of the custombrush.


10. We looked at the behaviour of the brush in Painter and decided to put the angle on D (direction) and a jitter of 17% (to give it a more fuzzy random look) and pressure for 56 % opacity.
We didn't use the profile editors, but if you want you can also edit those with graphs.

11. If you are satisfied, you can safe the brush by clicking on the colored arrow in the toolbin (this arrow is located in the panel with all the custombrushes).
