if you want to move a folder along the timeline you also need to unfold it first

I'm not sure that is what he's looking for, in case I misunderstand. It took me a few views to understand what is going on here, but that dark bar across the top of the layer isn't extending/contracting to the amount of frames of the longest layer until he collapses/expands the folder.

This is only a GUI issue, I am talking about the feint indicator of the exposure length that appears on the folder timeline view

i agree with your observation and was merely pointing another issue with the new layer folders.
In the hopes the team will take a good look at it.

Oh wow upon reading your message earlier I totally interpreted it wrong. You also made a good usability observation as well.

I'd like to gather some more support for this.
In my opinion the folders will only become a truly powerful improvement if they can be easily dragged around (i.e. have a 'physical' UI layer) which also has pre/post behaviour.

So i like your contributions and suggestions regarding this topic.

After some discussion with one of our devs, they will look what can be done. Thank you for this suggestion ! [TVPA-3636]
