arrow keys-game play

When i move to my desired frame, or when i flip my animation i usually use the arrow keys ( rather hen the flip book option in this case) to do so.
The only problem i have is that when i tap , say the forward arrow key,
a lot and fast, i usually end up way beyond the frame i need to be. The
backward arrow key will only respond after all the forward tapping has been executed.
Would it be possible to programm some kind of overwrite, so that going back is immediate and overrules all the yet-to-be-executed data.
I guess what i'm asking for is immediate response of the back and forth keys. Better joystick response and therefore better gameplay if you will.
I hope i didn't try to be too clear and made it unclear that way...or something
