Thanks, Chad! This is not the one I am looking for but I can use it as well. But why can't I get it to splatter colors?
BTW, the one I am looking for makes little directional splatters similar to raindrops. Yours are blotches, handy for my purpose as well and it would be ideal if I could create combinations of both and with combinations of colors.

I think I get you.. Here's a newly designed V2, with color turned on. Just select a color using the Picker. (Alpha setting - I believe that's the way to do that )
I did two more brushes, one with a heavy splatter type effect, one with drops. Perhaps a combination of the three would work for you.

Slightly larger filesize on this one, zipped. -5mb

You can always try toying with the step, angle, opacity, size etc.. to your liking and re-store the brushes. That's my late night insomnia TVP for tonight..

Sure he now sees colored splatter marks when he closes his eyes.

Splatters are the least of my worries when I close my eyes.


Glad you like the brushes. -I didn't really get the 'drops' right that Paul was after, in my opinion..
I'll re-vise this, and add a few more brushes in the next week. Perhaps a SplatterBrush V3.. stay tuned!

yes, the middle brush splats are large, too thick and fly in a hair-wire way. They should be much, much gentler and mixed in with a few dots. Chad, I'd be happy to contribute with a donation if you will be making some more.

Hey! No worries Paul. I'm glad to create and share. (Might even break out an actual toothbrush, ink and scanner for this next round)
I feel that I don't do enough on the beta end of things, because I've been so wrapped up in work lately.. so this is one way of contributing some more..!

Four brushes in this one, all brand new. Scanned in from 15 sheets of actual ink on paper.
Light, Medium, Heavy, as well as a combination pressure mode that includes all three grades of drops.

These are all wonderful and I can understand why you had to abandon the idea of droplet shapes. At least I presume that this is because you can't control the direction in which they will stamp. I love the way the shapes of the splats change with pressure though; that's really well thought out.

What I like about these splats is that it takes a little experimentation and practice to get them to do what you need, and that, in my opinion is a sign of a good tool. Without versatility there is little hope for creativity. Great job, and again, many thanks.

Thanks Paul. I tried to make them random enough that they appear natural, yet a bit surprising to use.. not unlike using the real thing.
If you tweak the profile editor in size / jitter / opacity etc.. you can get quite a few different effects out of these four brushes. Save what you like.

I particularly like the look of laying down black, then overlaying white paint on top of that.
I created some similar brushes way back in the amiga days, using DeluxePaint V! It still amazes me that I can work at film resolution now, if I choose, with millions of colors..
