I find it absolutely not funny.
I couldn't understand if it's a film made to amuse animators, or a film for the masses, chronicling the evolution of animation.
Either way, I prefer the narrator would just talk straight ahead and avoid that annoying dramaturgy.

Thanks Asaf for stepping in so that I don't have to always be the first one to complain. There is absolutely nothing redeeming in this flick... and now I step aside for the I like its to get on stage.

This film was made with the purpose of accompanying his new animation book.
So i think we can assume its aimed at animators or aspiring animators.
This time i'm not in the i like camp but its hard to say exactly why because this is a film i should be loving.
I think the idea of presenting the history of animation in the form of an animation in many styles is in itself quite good and offers many possibility.
But the David Attenborough-style narration and the far-fetched analogy of looking at the history of animation as if it was the evolution of some unknown species is not really working...that is to say...its not funny even for animators, though it was clearly meant to be.
Another part of the problem are those stick figure characters they simply are not very appealing to me, and with them he somehow managed to make every animation style in history look pretty stiff!
For all students of animation i'd recommend to study the originals the animator is quoting here instead of these remakes.

So this must be the explanation of why those stick figures resemble so much the Bauhaus website figures, which I despised even in the beginning good days of Bauhaus.

I had the impression that this film is just cold and constructed. There's nothing in it which gets me emotionally involved. Tony White is the technical type of animator, something I am guilty of as well. I like show-off animation as much as the next guy, but the films I really like have appeal.

The subject of animation is magical and exciting for me. While I watched this film, it became extremely boring...well I didn't watch the rest. Yet one can see that he has some superfine animation skills. This man is a paradox to me.
