Network Problems

Post by JonKK »

Hi, we have an external network hard disk at our office and we're having problems saving to it, with TV Paint Pro 9.5.16 on Windows XP (this also happens on Vista) There are also problems with importing footages from the network hard disk.

The weird thing is that this doesn't happen at all on our Mac computer (OS X 10.6.3), with TV Paint Standard 9.5.2.

Hope someone can help me with this..

Hi, JonKK
Can you try with the last version ( 9.5.16 ) ?

Sorry, yeah.

The error I get is "Can't create file:" and then the network hard disk path and the name of the file appended with .tmp

Looks like it's having problems making a temp file on the network hard disk. After saying OK on the error dialog box, everything looks fine, but it hasn't saved anything.

And trying to import footage from the network hard disk, I just get empty frames. No errors, though. It's a .mov file with the Apple Animation codec. It displays the right amount of frames in the Import dialog box, but they're all white. On our Mac computer, this works perfectly fine.

Cheers

You hard drive must be mounted with a simple letter (E:, G:...), not with the ip server, like "\\12.121.2121.21\\"

Thanks for the help.

It was actually the other way around. We were only connected to it with an IP, through the Windows Network Neighbourhood. Mapping it to a Network Drive (Z:.. etc.) then made it work perfectly!

And the footage import was just a case of the QuickTime installation being too old.

Thanks! :)
