Hi
You can minimise the layers you're not currently using (with the black triangle icon next to the layer name) so that they take up lass space, and you can group layers by colour (using the little 'c' icon) and then use the colours at the bottom of the layers palette to manage which colour groups are hidden/locked/selected etc.

Mazivco, to answer your question shortly, currently there is no way to group layers, and there is no nesting or pre-comping in TVP.
The nearest thing you can do is use the Keyframer and set another project as a source layer, but it will not give you a non-destructive workflow.
My 2 cents on this: TVP has it's own way, and it is not a compositing software. Try not to have compositing 'expectations' from TVP and you'll soon find what makes it fantastic.

Would "linking" layers be helpful in what you want to do? You can create a custom tool to do that.
Make a tool icon in a Custom Panel, then click "Edit", then "Set Keystroke", then "Layer", then "Link".
To link layers, hold down Shift then select the layer icons in the timeline to select them (you'll see yellow borders around the icons).
Click your new "Link"tool and you should be able to have them linked. For some reason, the lower layers shift one frame to the right...I'm trying to figure out why.
