I know this might be a lost case but is there a way of repairing a damaged tvpaint file?
My file became damaged after the computer shut down unexpectedly. Now when I go to open project I can see the file on the list but instead of seeing the resolution of the file there’s a question-mark there instead, and when I try to open the file, tvpaint becomes unresponsive.
I have backups from earlier, so I only lost one day worth of work but I made a good progress that day and the animation was working nicely and now just thinking about re-animating it....
Is there a software that can repair it or anything else that might help?

Now open the "Preference" panel and set "Auto Backup" to something like 5 ...

It doesn't hurt to set it to 99 either; that's what I do -- it all depends on how often you save. I save sometimes after every frame, if I feel I wouldn't want to have to redraw that one again. I apply the same rule of sailing to drawing when you have to shorten your sails, something you must do as the wind gets stronger. After it becomes too strong, there comes a point when you won't be able to work on the sails anymore and you and your boat might be in peril. The answer to the question; When should I shorten my sails is: The very first time you think of it is the right time.

But Paul, doesn't your harddrive fill up like crazy when you set it to 99?

It's certainly not unmanageable. Right now I am about halfway through a feature length project (cca 45 minutes completed of 1080p files) and my TVP pencil folder is 183GB, my color folder (the projects which have been completed by Sandra in color) is 150GB and she is way behind me, the AVI renders of these projects which I use for editing is 160MB, and my audio folder is 2GB. and all these are stored on a 930GB drive. Of course, the 99 backup files of every project file don't have to sit there forever. After a project is completed in color there is no reason why I couldn't erase them, but so far I have plenty of room so I haven't bothered to clean up the drive yet.

Hi elodie, Thank you for trying fixing it, but some of the layers were missing and after a couple of minutes tvpint stopped responding because of the file. I’ve now reanimated the scene so I don’t need the old file anymore, but thanks a lot for trying saving it
ematecki – thanks for advice, I didn’t know about the auto backup feature, I’ve set it now to 99
